Title: Help identifying song?
Post by: brandon4455 on May 21, 2004, 04:14:36 AM
I'm trying to locate a song that seems pretty popular over the years as being inserted here and there into tv shows or little spots as a western sounding tune.  It's currently the theme song for the PS2 game "Red Dead Revolver".  To hear the song, you can go to the Red Dead Revolver website right here:

http://www.rockstargames.com/reddeadrevolver/RDR.swf

I'm sure it's by Ennio Morricone and in one of the Sergio Leone films, I just sure can't figure out what movie.  If anyone could go to that site and listen to the song, and identify the name of it for me I would GREATLY appreciate it.

For those who are too lazy to go to the website, the best way I can describe the song is, it starts off with just a guy whistling for the first very short verse.  The next verse is the same thing, except it's a trumpet.  It's a slow paced showdown type song with a very soft guitar strumming in the back.  Other than that, it's just the whistling, then the trumpet.

Thanks a lot guys.

Think it might be "The Mercenary" by The Maestro himself.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who plays RDR. The only level I hate is the circus freaks. There seems to be no need for them, really? It is fun to fire the machine gun, hehe. How the hell do you kill Pig Josh anyway? I'm guessing you have to buy the dynamite and stun him somehow? My fingers just don't seem to work fast enough, lol. The music is great though. I was wondering if had a basis in reality, or was made up for the game only.,,,,SAE

Hi all

The music is from a movie called;
Il Pistolero Dell'ave Maria

There is also the score & songs from Trinity is still my name on the same cd.

Score by F.Micalazzi & R Pregadio.

There are 14 tracks from 'Maria' & 13 from 'Trinity' & it's a fantastic cd.

Got mine from a trip to Italy, along with a whole bunch of others & got it because the guy said it was 'classic' Italian western Score & he was dead right.

On the back of the cd box it states the distribution company as follows;

worldwide distribution
soundtrack deletions
hillside house
1 woodstock road
strood
rochester
kent
me2 2dl
england

Hope this helps you out.

For some reason your links are not opening iceman, but if you didn't do it with the links then the answer to brandon's question is "Ace High".

The track is
'Ballata Per Un Pistolero'
by F. Micalizzi and R. Pregadio,
taken from 'Il Pistolero Dell'ave Maria' (roughly1969/70)
Tells the tale of Sebastian (Leonard Mann), who returns to Mexico to revenge his fatherís murder. He doesnít know that his mother was behind it all.
