Romance of the backwoods with some good touches of comedy courtesy of a brilliant Mitchum. Even the kid is not so obnoxious. 7\10

Just saw this, I give it a 6/10

Titoli: you should change the title of the thread the movie is from 1948, not 1958  ;)

Boy, does Loretta Young ever look ugly. Yeah, she is a servant, she ain't supposed to look glamorized, and yeah, she is past her prime, but she is sooooo far removed from the beautiful woman in the 1930's movies .... if I thought it was just a great makeup job to try to make her look ugly, I'd be impressed, but I don't think any Hollywood actress at that time would agree to be made to look that bad - at least without a scene at the end where she makes herself up to show us she really is pretty. So, I have to believe that age really did wither her.
