Title: Help RRPOWER Go to Hollywood
Post by: PowerRR on June 30, 2012, 11:46:32 AM
By voting "5 BATWINGS" for my probably incoherent Batman/Chrysler commercial for a contest. You don't even have to watch it.

http://bit.ly/MyksTN

If it gets enough votes and Christopher Nolan picks it, I go to Hollywood and it goes on TV.

What do you get out of it, you may ask?

Well, in Hollywood, I'll track down Martin Scorsese, kidnap him King of Comedy style, and force him to give me and all of you the extended print of Once Upon a Time in America. Then I'll torture him until he properly releases a Leone-board approved cut of OUATITW on Blu-Ray.

But only if you vote for it. Once a day for the next 3 days if you'd like.

Sincerely,
me

Sounds reasonable

Where is yours? I arrive on the main page when I click the link (I would't want to vote for an opponent and then have to re-negotiate the whole torture deal).

My mistake. I tried from a different device, saw it, watched it, voted it up.
You can also switch off your Internet box for a couple minutes (that should reset your IP), empty your temporary files and vote it up again, as many times per day as you want.

Just thinking about it: Marty lives in new York. Isn't there a better contest, that would take you to NYC?

Well the winner spends 3 days in Hollywood to prepare it for TV, and 2 days in NYC for the red carpet premiere. Either way, I'm gonna find him.

Thanks for the votes so far. I'll do that temporary file thing too, I'm just a bit cautious with cheating on video contests because I've been caught before and it bumped me down from a $1000 prize to a $400 one. But that one involved lots of fake e-mails, so it was a bit more obvious.

I think Hollywood will suit you just fine!  ;D

Oh, OK, found it. It's "The Dark Ride" by Roy P. right? Yeah, I gave it a "5".

I was about to vote for you. But then I read the later posts and see that part of your plan to win involves cheating your way through. And that your only concern about cheating seems to be getting caught. So I think I'll pass. I don't give an honest vote to a cheater. I hope that whoever wins this contest does so honestly

Gee, thanks Groggy. I can't exactly create Leone-quality work with a 25 second time limit and millisecond clips of scattered stock footage.

Dog eat dog world my friend. The 'voting portion' (which its worth 20% of the final winning decision) is essentially an internet popularity contest anyways. For the record I didn't cheat, but fair enough, keep your damn vote!

Werner Herzog stole cameras from an old high school to shoot Aguirre. Fucking thief. I hate him.

Werner Herzog stole cameras from an old high school to shoot Aguirre. Fucking thief. I hate him.

I actually just happened to be reading about the movie cuz of the discussion on the Sight & Sounds poll, and came across a section about this incident. Wikipedia has this quote from his book:

"It was a very simple 35mm camera, one I used on many other films, so I do not consider it a theft. For me, it was truly a necessity. I wanted to make films and needed a camera. I had some sort of natural right to this tool. If you need air to breathe, and you are locked in a room, you have to take a chisel and hammer and break down a wall. It is your absolute right."

Yeah, that's right: if you want a camera, it's your "human right" to steal it from someone else.

I don't know if the wikipedia editors realized the irony, that in the very next paragraph there is this discussion about how he cared for the monkeys that were used in the movie. Gee, what a great guy: he cares about both animal rights and human rights!

I'll be sure to keep my doors locked and my hand on my wallet if Herzog or rrpower are ever in the area.

If you had a movie cam in your possession and Herzog hadn't, and he'd steal the camera from you ... I wouldn't feel bad for you. At all.

In that case, I am sure you'd steal it yourself.

Is stealing the camera okay because it's done by a famous filmmaker to make a successful movie? Would it be terribly immoral if it was stolen by some no-name for taking his own home videos? There's no difference. There are two kinds of people in the world, those who are honest and those who aren't, period. rrpower and moviesceleton are just two of the despicable folk in the latter category

Ouch.  ;D

If it makes you feel any better, I didn't win the contest (that I didn't cheat on anyways...).

You know what they say, Mr. Power. Cheaters never prosper… unless they actually cheat.
