I find car fatalities particularly vexing. This is a real shame. RIP.

I see there's a pantload of full spags for free on YouTube. What's the deal with that - are they all public domain/orphan works? Maybe that's why so few of these movies have normal DVD releases. (Or is it because they just suck? I wouldn't know - I've only seen 4 non-Leone spags.)

There are hundreds or maybe thousands of films on Youtube which shouldn't be there.

Also some (if not all of) of the Leones.

The widow was lamenting today the fact that when the ambulance arrived (about 30' after the incident) Gemma was still living and talking. Unfortunately, as there is no hospital in the wherebouts, he had to be taken to one distant another 50 kms and another 30' went lost. According to some witnesses the ambulance didn't leave for the hospital immediately but lingered on the place of the incident for a while. That's Italy.

That's a shame, here they have choppers for serious accidents.

Gemma discusses Leone here in Italian. Anyone able to provide a translation?

Let's guess ... he was the original choice for the man with no name, but, too bad, he was signed for another film, but of course it was him who recommended instead Eastwood for the role.

They met in 1966, at a prize award (The Golden Ankle:???). They were tight friends, spent holidays together. Gemma's favourite movies: OUTA and Il brutto, il buono, il cattivo (sic). Final anecdote: L. called him one day"Let's go to Paris". They went by L's Mercedes. Gemma was L.'s guest at the George V ("I heard people say he was a Scrooge, but that's not what I experienced"). "I learned later that  he thought I was a good luck charm". In fact Leone was in Paris discussing the financing for OUTA and the first days he was quite dejected ("They want to cheat me, they don't want to give me enough money"). Then one day he appeared very happy: "I've made it: they're gonna give me 30 million $ for the movie". And Gemma: "Well, then give me 10%". L."You're crazy, aren't you?".
