Title: Los Albaricoques
Post by: drinkanddestroy on January 16, 2014, 05:33:25 AM
So, I wanted to do a little online checking into Los Albaricoques, the adobe village in FOD and FAFDM.

Firstly, I am happy to see that Google Maps now has every road in the village on Street View!

Here is the satellite image of Los Albaricoques http://goo.gl/IktVh6

And here it is on Street View http://goo.gl/8Av54R

Also, I see there's a blog dedicated to Lee Van Cleef http://thebadnet.blogspot.com/2013/10/location-los-albaricoques.html which has some nice stuff about Los Albaricoques, including a great map of the town, with streets named after Sergio Leone, Ennio Morricone, Clint Eastwood, Lee Van Cleef, Gian M. Volonte, Tonino Valerii, Eduardo Fajardo, Giulio Petroni, Aguas Calientes, and more! Some nice pics on that site, location comparisons... good stuff!

I enjoyed taking a "drive" through the town by clicking the arrows on the Google Maps Street View.... Now, although the LVC blog has the map with the spag-themed street names, and the signs showing those names, Google Maps has not tagged the streets with those names; so I'm not sure how official these street names are; maybe the townsfolk just slapped signs on the streets but they're not "officially" recognized by whatever source Google gets their street names from?

Imagine what it's like living in a town like that.... Seems to be a shitty adobe town, godforsaken in the middle of nowhere - like some shithole out of a French New Wave film but with a history like that.... must be awesome to visit there  :)
