Every man eventually passes from this fleeting world, but a select few live on forever - in the hearts and minds of those whose lives they enriched, in the works of art they leave for eternal generations to enjoy and admire, and in the living artists who continually produce artworks inspired by them.
Viva Leone!

So, I think it's appropriate to ask, if Sergio was alive today, which filmmakers do you think HE would admire? Which filmmakers are carrying on the Leone legacy?

Zero.

"admire" is a strong word.

I don't know many filmmakers in activity who admire people who began to work after them. You cannot be good at what you do if you "admire" your opponents/colleagues.

He would for sure respect a lot Paul Thomas Anderson and Alfonso Cuaron.

Nobody is currently and consciously carrying on his legacy, but most of the american films you can watch nowdays in theater wouldn't be the same if Leone had not existed.

I'm specifically talking about filmmakers whose careers began after Leone's passing (so e.g. Scorsese wouldn't count).

There definitely are great films being released today; unfortunately, hardly any of them are Westerns.

Once upon a time, there was a certain cinema....
