Title: Morricone 86 today + a nice '88 concert footage
Post by: Milan NS on November 10, 2014, 07:38:08 AM
Happy 86th birthday! And here's a nice gem, footage of him conducting in 1988, in two parts:

That's Alide Maria Salvetta in the Leone segment, who died less than three years later, few days shy of her 50th birthday...

Thanks

I've never seen that concert before.
Watching it now; that soprano is not the greatest but not bad, a helluva lot better than Susanna Rigacci (who isn't?) That DYS theme (early in the first clip) is way too fast. Seems like Morricone plays some of his Leone themes faster live than on the movies, and I don't like that; slower is almost always better

Looking at Morricone's upcoming concert schedule, I see he has a bunch of European dates scheduled ... I wish he'd come to USA and make up those dates he had to cancel due to his surgery a few months ago. I had tickets for that canceled show in New York; I'm still hoping I'll get to see him live one day ...
