Title: The definitive GBU book is still coming (a little more patience, though)......
Post by: Shadow on March 16, 2015, 05:40:44 AM
Hi All,

I know this could be posted under the "Western books" topic, but I figured this book deserves its own topic. It has been talked about before, but the definitive book on GBU is still coming! Three weeks ago, I exchanged emails with its writer, who stated that the book is finished, all that still needs to be done is selecting a printing company and then the actual distribution. As a courtesy, the writer (from Germany) sent me five of the pages of the book, which look really, really promising. I just wish the book would be out tomorrow, as I would love to read all the info and see all the photos.......... Anyways, I do hope this book will be in my hands sometime this year!

From what I have seen, it looks like it will be worth the very long (long!) wait....... Over 400+ pages....
Hopefully the author will settle on a printing company soon. An ISBN nummer has been granted already , as I can see on the cover.
I hope for a release sometime this year!

The writer is from Germany?

I think he is referring to the co-writer Ulrich Angersbach who is from Germany. I believe he participated in some of the mgm extra features back when they first put out the dvds of Leone's films.

I know the book is ready and I have a few pages which look very promising. All it takes now, according to Peter, is to find a good publishing deal. I'm still very hopeful we'll see it this year!

Hi amigos,

As you can read elsewhere on this forum, I've just returned from a 3-day trip to Madrid and the Burgos-area, where I've visited a bunch of FOD, FDM and GBU filming locations. Walking around these locations, many questions came to mind, such as: ho did Leone end up on a hill in Carazo to shoot his prison camp sequence? Last week I again contacted the author of the forthcoming definitive book on GBU to enquire about its release date (and ask him a few of my questions...). Peter, the author, was so kind not only to answer my questions, but to also reveal that he has now found a good publishing deal and that the book will be available in 2015!! I'm looking forward to it!

Great news!

We've been waiting years for this. A few months longer won't hurt.
