I'll wear my harmonica around my neck to work today, my usual tribute to spaghetti western contributors who are no longer with us...

I guess the tuberculosis of the bones finally got him. Morton goes Mort.
For me, he will always be remembered as Morton. A great role in a great movie that people will watch forever - what can be more immortal than that?
OUATITW is in the top 30 in IMDB, was the top Western in the 2012 Sight & Sound Directors Poll.
Terrific job, playing a man at least 20 years older than Ferzetti was at the time. That was the first movie I saw him in and he was totally convincing; I didn't realize till years later how young he actually was, after I saw him in some of his Italian movies.

Well done, Gabrielle. Rest in peace :)

Wasn't that The Searchers, as always?

Critics are always a bit too conservative in their taste ...

And tend to follow each other like sheep. I guess they are no less immune to fashion trends than everyone else  ;D

GF was 007s father-in-law  :'(

The dubber Robert Rietty should get cred for his performance as well.......:P

His best work was definitely OUATITW. Besides the obvious, I was also impressed by his performance in Costa-Gavras's The Confession. RIP to a great actor.

Sad news. I was wondering recently whether he was still alive and now he is gone.

He was also in On Her Majesty's Secret Service (I believe as Tracy's father if I remember correctly) as well as other notable films in that era. He will be missed.

And in Antonioni's L'avventura (1960), a then groundbreaking film.

I watched again OHMSS and on the comment it is said that Ferzetti landed the part after somebody watched him in a mafia movie. It must have been this one:

I've been trying to see if that one's available with English subs, but no luck so far.
