Title: Nicknames
Post by: Il Tramonto on September 05, 2004, 02:48:59 AM
Joe and Monco are only nicknames of Clint's character in the first 2 movies of the trilogy, right? I'm pretty sure they are, but I don't have any real evidence to support either claim.

The clint's character just can't have any name! Leone as created a symbol! He comes from nowhere, he has no name, no past, no family, no friends (things that all the other characters in the trilogy have!)... Leone, when he made his first western, said that he wanted Clint's character to be like an angel, angel Gabriel precisely....

So he just can be nicknamed...

what lewis is trying to say is that no matter what the people call him in any of the movies he is still an enigma... the actual name means nothing... has no connection to anything else

The man with no name.....
Just like a ghost in the dark or an angel; always on the right place at the right moment.

Clint character was called Joe, but his name only appeared in the script. He wasn't called "The man with no name" in the script but Joe.The same for Monco in FDM I think.
