Title: Border Incident (1949)
Post by: titoli on September 13, 2016, 12:08:08 AM
Were it not for the end this could have earned a 8/10. What's wrong with the finale? Easy. They are many on the truck with only Hunnicutt (Hunnicutt, I say), to guard them, knowing they are being taken to a place where they will be murdered and that would be the best moment to try something. They don't. Then there's Da Silva turning suddenly into an idiot and a coward, being given a gun for the only reason of allowing Montalban to get it from him in a most stupid way. And trhen, how do the cops know that the braceros are being trucked to the Canyon de la muerte? And how Cuchillo and Zopilote (great performance) happen to be there? Anybody's guess. For the rest the movie is excellent, great shots and great photography, every single shot being well thought up and even the plot is developed in a quite devious way. McGraw is the best here, even better than Da Silva. 7/10
