Title: Dead Man's Walk (1996)

Kind of prequel to Lonesome Dove, it shows the two friends in the early stages of their career. But fundamentally the story, apart from the first useless 30', is based on the adventure in Comanche and Mexican territory of an army of volunteers led by F.M. Abraham to acquire New Mexico for the U.S. Good performances by the cast with the exception of Arquette, miscast as young Gus as can be. Fortunately here there is little romance and at least the great scene of the escape from fire in the cliff. A solid 7/10 as the other miniseries of the cycle.
