though a definite cool guy flick, I was rather disappointed with this one.

Indeed, not nearly as good as some of the other brit-mob flicks. I preferred Sexy Beast or even Gangster No.1 to this.

I thought Layer Cake was superb - better than Sexy Beast which was excellent itself (espescially the underwater heist).

I am a bit puzzled as to the lead man (Daniel Craig?) being chosen as the new Bond.  He was the one weak link in Layer Cake.  Not the most talented actor.

If you haven't seen it WATCH IT!! (now)

I suppose you really dont need a talented actor to put on the tux, but I really enjoyed this film.
It suprised me how well made it was considering this was made buy the producer of Lock, Stock, and 2 Smoking Barrels, and Snatch ........both of which were complete trash.

I thought it was pretty damn good too.  As good as Sexy Beast.  Haven't seen Gangster No. 1 yet though.
