Post by: cigar joe on August 16, 2005, 08:43:29 PM
Watched Woody Strode in this tonight, Italian flick, set in the Congo based loosely on events there, not bad, probably one of Woodys best non western staring roles.

I haven't seen this movie, sadly, but if you want to know what wreckage the tiny country of Belgium caused in the Congo, I'd recommend Adam Hochschild's book KING LEOPOLD'S GHOST.

Its one of the best history books I've ever read. If you know Conrad's novel HEART OF DARKNESS, also set in the Belguim Congo, then you'll have some idea of the horror and terror it contains.

woody had energy to burn in " the last voyage".
anybody ever see it. circa ' 60, w/ robert stack,
dorthy malone.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0054016/

he truly played the role of a black jesus while ships
captian, george saunders, slaps everyone who disagrees w/ his oppinion that the ship is not sinking.

woody deserved top billing.  ::)
