Title: Cold Mountain (2003) - The CM villain?
Post by: The Firecracker on March 08, 2006, 03:23:36 PM
anybody here seen Cold mountain? Its an ok film but there is this one character, who i swear my life on, is a reference to spaghetti western villans.

He is a lunatic albino with a touch of sadism. there is a scene where he is dancing on a piece of wood, every one of his footsteps crushes a womans fingers beneath the wood.

it was totally cruel and so spaghetti western. to bad he is a short lived character.

Anybody know what I am talking about?

That dude creeped me out when watching Cold Moutain.  Looking at imdb.com, his character's name is Bosie played by Charles Hunnam who I've only seen in the tv show "Undeclared."

A buddy of mine had a good line about the Confederate albino guy as he described him.  He asked," You know how I knew that guy was evil? Because he's an albino, and albino characters are always evil."

His remark caught me off-guard, but then when I thought about it, he was right, I wasn't able to come up with one.  Good movie though, especially the opening Crater battle.

As strange as that comment sounds...youre buddy does make alot of sense. Villians are usually dis-figured in some way or another.

And yes that crater battle scene was done very well.

Cold Mountain (2003) - 9/10
Hollywood at its best! What I especially liked about it was the strong physical feel of it: A lot of blood, a lot of dirt, the landscape that became almost a character in itself and the strongly physical sexual longing which didn't turn the whole thing into ridiculous porn-kinda thing, quite on the contrary it deepened the spiritual longing of the main characters. I have to say that a strongly physical movie was exactly what I'd been looking for months.

Anthony Minghella would be my number one pick (of course if we don't count Leone) for directing Leone's unrealised Leningrad project 1)if there was a script 2)if he was alive.

I quite liked Cold Mountain too. It was one of the few Civil War movies that succeeds as, you know, a film. Great cast too. Not quite as good as The English Patient though.
