Title: Hommage in Angel Heart
Post by: roberti on March 24, 2006, 03:27:36 PM
If you have seen Angel Heart (Alan Parker) you know that De Niro is one of the main characters of this movie. But you may not remember that for the very first scene a phone is ringing (like in OUATIA) while Mickey Rourkey is getting back to his office. Angel Heart is not the only flick with a phone ringing but with the presence of De Niro I reckon it must a hommage to Sergio.

Angel Heart was made only a few years after, which is a little soon for "hommage."

Still, it's impossible not to think about OUATIA.

I remember the phone ringing so much from my first screening of Once/America (1985, restored/full version).  Only after one watches and understands the film does one know it's a reminder to Noodles of when he called the cops to tip them off, which he thought resulted in the death of Max, for which he tortured himself for years.
