Phew, thank God, seems like it did upload. The above photo is from the Japanese program of "OUTIW." This is an omitted scene and this is where Harmonica says, "if it's sewing you want me to do, I can't do it."
-
nice thanks
-
nice indeed 8)
-
Cool picture. That's from the deleted scene where Harmonica is beaten up by the sheriff's deputies.
-
This is also from the theater program booklet. After a long wait, Jill gets a ride from Sam at the station. This could have been either a production photo or an alternative shot.

It's hard to say if it's a production photo or a deleted scene. It looks too organized to be a production photo but how can it be a deleted scene? Jill went from the station to the town walking then we see her in a buggy in town. Unless she walked into Flagstone and then turned around, went back to the station, and hitched a ride from there which doesn't make sense.
-
You're right. In that magnificent crane shot, Jill walks into town and we see her on the buggy in the next shot. So, this photo may have been taken as a promotional photo. Or Leone may have had an alternative idea during the shooting.

Thanx for this lost scene.

Thanx for this lost scene.
On the OUATITW DVD there's 7 more photos from this scene showing the actual beating.
-
This is definitely a production still. You can see a man in a white T-shirt walking in the far distance.

Maybe it's just cause I eat up anything Leone-related, but I'd love to see that scene with Keenan Wynn and his deputies beating up Harmonica back in the movie. Seems like it would have added something to the later scene where Harmonica buys Jill's land at the auction.
Great pictures, Sanjuro.
-
Thank you, Tim, for appreciating my contribution. The beating up scene you are talking about is described in Sir Frayling's "Spaghetti Westerns." As you say, if this scene were included, we might see that auction scene differently.
-
In Frayling's "Spaghetti Westerns" there is a description of the scene with Jill and Sam. It starts.. Interior: Stables. Sam is reading a book. The owner enters with Jill. "This Signora wants you to take her to Sweetwater". There is no mention of going back to the station. It just seems to suggest that they get on the wagon and go to Sweetwater.

The owner is the bank manager, Mr. O'Leary. He hands over the deeds to the McBain ranch to Jill and tells her that Brett once called Sweetwater " a beautiful dream. "
Le Bon, I don't have that book but I know it has descriptions of the deleted scenes. Can you put some descriptions of some unknown deleted scenes like when Harmonica is searching for Wobbles on a crowded passenger train?
-
Just one more still of Jill and Sam. I have never seen this still anywhere else other than in the Japanese program booklet.

Yes sure... I'll detail the Scene of Harmonica trailing Wobbles.
Scene 30. CHINESE LAUNDRY: DAY. Wobbles is supervising the Chinese workers. 'Eight sheets. There should be eight, You yellow faces!' He holds up eight fingers. 'Can't you count for christ's sake?'. As the bell rings his manner changes. Jill enters.
31. Jill leaves and walks towards Flagstone hotel passing a saddler's shop where Harmonica is examining the merchandise. Jill walks by without stopping, but it is clear all is going to plan. Harmonica is still inspecting a saddle but keeping an eye on the back door of the laundry where Wobbles is trying to leave inconspicuously. As Wobbles leaves Harmonica follows him {his face appears around corners of houses, carriages and behind horses} until Wobbles enters the main station building.
The next sequence 33 shows the railway track with a locomotive plus carriages pointing in the opposite direction to the one which brought Jill to Flagstone. {it has been turned around on a wooden platform constructed on the branch line just outside Flagstone}. As the train leaves Wobbles jumps into one of the carriages: Harmonica jumps onto the running board of the following carriage.
34 Harmonica looks for Wobbles in his carriage. {it is a guard's van}. There is no sign of him.
35 Harmonica looks for Wobbles in a crowded compartment. Still no sign.
36 Harmonica jumps from the moving train which by now is a few hundred yards from the station. There is a stretch of line parallel leading nowhere with a wooden shack next to it. Another locomotive with a single carriage is about to leave. {this setting is in the final version} Harmonica climbs a ladder at the rear of the carriage and lies on the roof listening to the conversation inside. A bell rings. The engine driver says. 'Hm.The spider wants to make a little turn around'. The fireman shovels coal into the furnace. ' You know he likes to go fast'. The locomotive moves out.
This sequence helps to clarify that Mortons train is not meant to carry passengers and explains why there are two locomotives shown in the shortened scene of Harmonicas search for Wobbles in the final version. You can see the wooden platform in the photo that Sanjuro posted earlier as well.

Thanks a lot Le Bon. Being that I'm a big train fan I would've loved to see this sequence. I really appreciate it.

Just one more still of Jill and Sam. I have never seen this still anywhere else other than in the Japanese program booklet.
This looks to me by their expressions, that they have arrived at Sweetwater and have seen the Mcbain bodies laid out?? I have that Japanese program as well Sanjuro from Ebay a few months ago. Very nice item. Apparently there are two different ones for OUATITW. I also have the GBU one which is not quite so good.
-
Le Bon, that's right, this is when Jill arrives at the Macbain's farm and she is shocked to see the bodies of the Macbain family.
And you are right also about the program booklet. There two different editions. One from the original release of the film and the other from the second release. Mine is from the original release. The cover art is basically the same as the poster for the original release.
Incidentally, in Japan, OUTIW is titled "Western." Very symbolic title, isn't it?

This is a deleted scene-----of which film? And can you tell who this bosomy lady is?
-
Maria Krupp. The ugly hotel owners wife from FAFDM.
That makes two sex scenes deleted from the Dollars trilogy. the one just mentioned and the one in the lost Socorro sequence in GBU.
wonder if FOD had one as well?

Maria Krupp. The ugly hotel owners wife from FAFDM.
Well, that's one scene I'm very glad was cut from the final prodcut. That scene with her and her husband is just disgusting, mostly because of her. :(

Clint.

Thank you Peacemaker. Now I can recognize his holster and shirt.

I'm not sure if you have seen this already. This is an Italian fotobusta of FFDM.

yes it is wonderful indeed. but I think the same shot was posted on the OUATITW section (not that it matters. thanks anyway. :) ).

This is from a book, "Once Upon A Time: The Films of Sergio Leone" by Robert Cumbow. Since there's no caption for this photo, I don't know which production this is from. I assume it's from "My Name is Nobody." If you can tell, please let me know. And who is the guy with a soldier cap?

This is the deleted scene of OUATITW where Frank goes to get a shave ( notice Fonda has really dark hair ). This scene happens before the auction. Harmonica is outside whittlin' on a piece of wood, the barber tells Frank that then he says " I got a feelin' that when he stops whittlin' something's gonna' happen! " When the scene was removed it was transferred to the end where the line has more impact.

I can see it now. I didn't realise it would come out so big. That must be why.

Peacemaker, thank you for clearing my mystery!. No wonder the barber looks different from the one in "My Name is Nobody." So, this is the scene Frank was preparing for his wedding with Jill. But the Frank's line (" I got a feelin' that when he stops whittlin' something's gonna' happen! ") was given to Cheyenne as a result of the deletion of this barber scene?
-

That would be correct, sir.
It has more of an impact there doesn't it?

marry Jill! was that in the original script?
Thats not in the film. It's lightly touched on (among other things during the sex scene ;D ) but Their is no real evidence that they were going to actually get married!

Sanjuro said Frank went to the barbers to look presentable at the wedding.

He wanted to look presentable for the auction. This scene would be placed right after the bed scene and right before the auction.

There was something about him showing up late. There's even a photo from a deleted scene where Frank and one of his men are facing the handcuffed Cheyenne and Frank makes a mocking jesture to the duster used to frame him.

Well, the barber scene was in the shooting script (according to Frayling's "Spaghetti Westerns") and was actually filmed. I didn't remember, but this scene is described in "The Cut Sequences of Leone's Westerns" in Frayling's "Spaghetti Westerns." Because Frank mentioned marriage in the previous scene, we are supposed to think Frank is becoming elegant to get married to Jill.
-
Le Bon, Iceman, thank you for your photos too. They are all great.
-
In Fraylings description of this scene, at our first sight of Frank, smartly dressed riding into town we are meant to think he is about to get married. When he is in the barbers Harmonica is watching him outside. Frank sees his reflection in the mirror and Harmonica has another flashback. Jill arrives in a carriage sitting next to one of Frank's men. She talks to the Sheriff who seems suprised by the conversation. A man rushes into the barbers and tells them there is an auction of Mcbain's land if they are interested. Frank laughs to himself. Then the first auction scene happens.
Next Harmonica knocks at one of the hotel room doors with a prearranged signal, glancing with regret at the pistol in his hand.
Then the second auction scene.
After that back at the barbers one of Frank's men is telling him the news. "He's still there in the hotel Frank. Say the word and we'll..." Frank just gets up and turning to the barber says "perfume".
And that's the end of the sequence.

Hey Cigar Joe, I'm glad you are enjoying the images.
Here's another one. This is from my Leone archive. A Japanese Flyer of DYS for its first release. By this time, Leone was highly respected by Japanese. DYS was titled "The Sunset Gangs" in Japan.

The naming style is a sort of the tradition of United Artists in Japan who distributed this film. It started from "The Gunman of Sunset (FFDM). " GBU was "The Guman of Sunset Part 2." It may sound strange but "Death Rides a Horse" was titled "The Gunman of Sunset New Edition." FOD was distributed by a different company.
-
The below are Japanese posters for two great films that changed the course of film history. "Yojimbo" and "Fistful of Dollars." Both for their first release. Leone was billed as Bob Robertson then.
(http://img206.imageshack.us/img206/1162/yojimbojapaneseposterxl1.jpg) (http://img93.imageshack.us/img93/1051/fodposteroa7.jpg)
Back in late 80's, I met Kurosawa. He was still angry with the unauthorized Italian adaptation of his "Yojimbo." He said he never wanted to see "Fistful of Dallars." Well, what can I say? I love both films.
"Fistful of Dollars" was distributed by a company called Towa which is an affiliate of Toho, which is ironically, the distributor of "Yojimbo." "Fistful" was a phenomenal hit in Japan as it was in Europe. "Fistful" was a dawn of the Macaroni Western phenomenon in Japan.
"Fistful of Dollars" was titled ironically (or should I say very appropriately) "Yojimbo of Wilderness." Following this, Towa released a series of Yojimbo westerns like. "Yojimbo of Wilderness Part 2 (Django)", "Yojimbo of Highnoon (Massacre Time)", "Yojimbo From South (Arizona Colt)" and "Yojimbo at Dawn (A Stranger in Town)."
-
Great stuff, Sanjuro. I really like that FOD with Joe riding past the noose. It's a very bleak looking poster, but I think it fits the movie.
And how'd you meet Kurosawa, or in what setting? In an interview or just happened to meet/see him somewhere?

I was writing for a Japanese movie magazine at that time. I met him at a Film Fest in SF.

Thanks for the great photos, Le Bon. I recognized the top photo of Clint. That face is used for an Italian CD "La Trilogia Del Dollaro." Now I know what that image is from. This photo is totally new to me.
The bottom one is used for an Italian fotobusta also.
Hey guys, if you have some photos to share also, don't be bashful. Send them here!

BTW, do you have a scanner to scan and send in your hidden photos?

Hidden photos!!! I wish! I found this off a website somewhere. the restof the photos have been seen before.
This scene comes right before Cheyenne says " hey wait a minute, the jail's that way! " scene. You can tell because Cheyenne's shoulders are slumped forward meaning his arms and hands are in the front of his body ( handcuffs ) and Frank has shaved ( after deleted barber scene ). The man next to Frank is the one who ran into the barber to get Frank in the deleted scene Le Bon described earlier.
The only thing I don't understand is what's with that weird hand gesture Frank makes in the photo? Anybody got an idea?
-
May be cheyenne told frank "hey, YOU should be at my place" and frank could answer "It's business..."
-

Could be but it looks more like Frank is asking the guy for something, such as " hand me my gun. "
-
I'm not sure. He could also be showing the town beeing built around them and say that the old time is dying now, so are cheyenne-like outlaws.

Now THAT's a good one! I like that theory a lot. :)
Except maybe instead of pointing to the town as a symbol of progress maybe he should've pointed at the railroad. ::)

well, the railroad is may be in this direction :)

Right. In Frayling's book he has no mention of this. His description of this sequence ends in the barber shop. The same with the cut scene with Jill at the station with Sam. There is no description of the colour photo which Sanjuro posted.

Really? This can't possibly by a production still, look at how the extras look so choreographed.
-
Agreed. Sorry i didn't mean it was a production still. It must be a filmed scene. I just meant that Frayling's description ends in the barber's and it must continue on with what's shown in the photo. The same with the scene with Jill and Sam.

There's very little evidence to point to a specific film. I can narrow it down to FOD or FFDM because the gun Clint is loading is an 1873 Colt Peacemaker, the revolver he used in those two films.
In GBU, he carries an 1851 Colt Navy Conversion model ( It is designed to hold cartridges instead of seperate cap and ball ) but without the ejection rod on the side ( Which is fitted to the right of every revolver barrel that holds cartridges ).
Actually I just looked at the picture a second time and really paid attention and it's from FFDM. You can see the bandage on his right wrist.

:o Very good observation! I can't really fool you. That's right, it's from FFDM. This is definitely one of rare photos, don't you agree?

What I find odd is that this looks like another one of those deleted scenes. He's reloading his gun in what appears to be a cave or mountainous area.
-
Great phot Sanjuro. I haven't seen this before. Does the book have many more rare photos. Yes it's from FAFDM. You can see the hand brace. And i think i can tell which scene it comes from. I think it's when he is loading his gun waiting for Indio's gang. That looks like part of the chair he is sitting on sticking up. Doesn't he sit on it the wrong way?? The rocks could be the ground by a building.

The book has lots of rare non-leone spaghettis. The nice thing about this book is it introduces 324 spaghettis!!
About the scene you described, I don't think the photo is from that scene. One, Clint in this photo is not wearing his poncho (in that waiting scene, he is wearing it). Two, he is not wearing his hat here. So, I have no idea what scene this photo is from.
-
I forgot he was wearing the poncho and hat in that scene. I had in mind another photo which looks like a rehearsal for this scene. I have posted the link below as i couldn't post the photo on here. So it looks like the close up is from another angle of this. The other pic below is a rehearsal of the entrance to Agua Caliente...note the rock behind him.

Thank you Le Bon, those are great photos too. As you say, seems like my last photo of Clint and Jordan's photo were taken at the same time. I love that photo of Clint walking in Agua Caliente without the poncho too. Thanks very much!

Must have been a hot day :)
I was looking through one of my books today and found these two pics. Perhaps Cheyenne and the sheriff are facing Frank and his men in the cut scene. The other one is from the cut scene at the beginning. You can see them turning the train around.

Sanjuro do you have a link to where you can get that Macaroni Westerns book. I tried Amazon.jp but had no luck.

The picture of Cheyenne and the sheriff is probably part of that frank deleted scene.

Le Bon, if you are refering to "All About Macaroni Westerns (Macaroni Western no Subete)," here's the link.
http://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/product/4891726652/249-6270504-5237100?v=glance&n=465392
BTW, what book are these two photos from? And what about that clint walking in Agua Caliente with no sheep skin vest? You have a great library!
The photo of Jill with men turning around the train must be taken when Jill and Sam were together (one of my color photos).
-
Thanks for the link. I got the Macaroni posters book from there last year.
The pic of Clint walking is from my own stills collection but i have seen it in a book. Can't remember which one right now. I think its also on a website. Maybe shobarys. I'll try and find out for you. The two others are from a French book called Sergio Leone by Gilles Cebe which i got from a 2nd hand book site abebooks.com.
Have you seen the other rare pics on this board. Go to Once Upon...West. 'Rare stills' or something and Good Bad Ugly. 'Behind the scenes pics'.

You buy books from Japan and France. I admire your enthusiasm. I got a feeling you have more rare pics. Show us more, Le Bon, show us more!
And thank you for telling me about pics in old threads.

This is the cover of the Japanese GBU program booklet. The artwork is similar to the Japanese poster (the poster has LVC and EW, of course). Now you know why they call it "The Gunman of Sunset (Part 2)."

They are, there are a few others but I forgot what they look like. I know one of them is the classic poster of Eastwood next to the cannon with Tuco and Angel Eyes in the back.

I haven't seen this pic before. Any photo that has the beautiful Claudia in it is a good photo. ;D

I would have to say that is the best picture I have seen of her yet. she looks very angelic. it must be the lighting. it gives her skin a very golden glow.

You haven't seen "Yojimbo"?! Man, you don't know what you are missing. You have to see "Yojimbo", "Hidden Fortress", not to mention "Seven Samurai". I have to add "Rashomon" too. If you wanna be a filmmaker, these are must. No excuse.

Not many people say this, but GBU is basically based on "Hidden Fortress." Not only George Lucas got an inspiration from this movie.

God, you can tell Segio's health was on the decline during this photo. If it weren't for his unhealthy eating habits, we could've had him around for another decade or two.

He must have had diabetes in addition to the heart problem. I wish I could have told him to eat wheat pasta and do exercise regularly.

A couple of weeks ago, my PC died on me and I lost all my files. :-[ And the PC have to go under repair for a month! Since I cannot live without a computer for many reasons (this site is one of them), I got myself a new MAC, new scanner and new Photoshop.
I'm back in the saddle again!
And speaking of Gene Autry, I went to Gene Autry Museum last summer to see the Leone Exhibit (which I posted here last summer). There, I met maestro Allessandro Allessandroni. His whistle performance was fantastic! He said he doesn't speak English well, but his English sounded fairly fluent to me. When I said I have been listening to his music since when I was a kid (which was yesterday, haha), he seemed very happy. Below is his autograph I got after his performance.

These are autographs of my two heroes. I got these autographs when they were in San Francisco for separate occasions. I didn't have a chance to have a chat with Clint but I had a dinner with Toshiro Mifune :). Mr. Mifune was such a gentleman. He was the most humble and friendliest movie star I have ever met.

There was daylight in the doorway. But there's a lot of light from inside because those are studio lights.

BTW, since you are in UK, have you seen a documentary called "Once Upon a Time: Sergio Leone"? I think it was produced for Channel Four in 2002. Directed by Howard Hill. You know anything about it? It's going to be aired in Japan. I'm going to ask my friends to tape it for me. If that doesn't work, I'm going to Japan to tape myself ;D .
-
No i haven't seen that one. Maybe it was on Film Four, an offshoot of Channel Four which you had to subscribe to, which i wasn't. :'( The BBC made one called Viva Leone over ten years ago and one on Morricone as well. Hope you get your copy.

Got a nice book recently " Backstage Di Un Genio" which was published for an exhibition last year in Sirmione, Italy. It has some great photos by Dino Jarach who was given access to the set of OUATITW for a photo shoot. If you have seen those photos of Leone and Claudia with a 19th century camera, they were taken by him. I will try and post as many as i can here from it. Here's a few for now.

I like that second pic. Very sexy photo of Cardinale.

Thank you for posting those texts and new photos, Le Bon! This is a nice finding about Dino Jarach and I enjoyed reading the Terence Hill interview by Dino Jarach's son.
And of course it is great to see those rare photos of Sergio directing Cardinale. Thank you for sharing your precious collection with us! And I hope you will keep doing it ;D.

Yes, thank you very much, Le Bon!

again nice

More nice photos of OUTIW set! That white dress of Cardinale was used for the scene when she goes to Wobbles's laundry shop. Who is that guy in the photo with her?
I like the photo of Jason Roberds looking distressed holding his gun also.
What a nice book you got, Le Bon!
-
Yes Robards looks a bit tired there.
The guy with Claudia...i have no idea. It doesn't say in the book.
-

perhaps a hang over? Wasn't Robards a drinker?

Yes, Robards was a very heavy drinker.

That's a good pic. I wonder why the image is so muddy.
-
Maybe it was scanned from a magazine? Or something like that.
BTW, that site belongs to my favourites. Not very detailled descriptions of the films, but a lot of texts about Wild West generally. But it won't be helpful for you, because it's in Polish... ::) I quite understand it fortunatelly.

You're so multilingual!!
-
They say multilingual people are very intelligent. ;)
-
You're so multilingual!!
Believe me, internet helps a lot! Polish is also Slavic language, as Czech, so some words are very similar, if you know the way Polish is written. Of course, reading it is much more tiring then reading Czech texts for me - but sometimes also much more fun, because of the work put into it. ;) Some words are completely different, but, if you see e.g. "zdjecia" fifty times on the same place and always it's a link to pictures, you'll soon realise what it means. ;D

I know what you mean. Scandinavian languages are similar to each other too. I know a Scandinvian couple, husband is Norwegian and wife Swedish. They can communicate very well by speaking each own's language.
But learning different laguages from internet takes a lot effort. But then again, like Peacemaker said, multilingual people are intelligent people.
-
I'm not exactly learning, I cannot say I speak Polish. But I'm able to understand Polish a bit, also thanks to internet. But also because, as I wrote, somehow it's not so difficult for Czech if they aren't really stupid concerning languages, and that fortunatelly isn't my problem. My biggest experience with it was a Polish conductor, when we went to Lithuania. We spoke Czech, he spoke Polish, and we communicated very well.
But it's not so obvious as with Slovakian, that one I understand really well. But, again, I cannot say I speak Slovakian. Also because Slovaks understand Czech, so one doesn't need to speak their language. ;)
Even Russian can work like that, but that's much more difficult, because it really is different, the accents in it and many words that mean something completely different than in Czech - the most famous being "krasnyj (Ru) - krasny (Cz)" problem.
I guess it could be similar between Spanish - Portuguese - Italian (- Romanian), or Finnish - Estonian and so on. There are differences, however some things are very similar and if one wants to, it's not so difficult to understand, at least the main meaning of sentences. (And, be honest, in spoken language it's what most people can understand, when they speak that language. Sometimes even people who speak your language too fast cannot be understood better. ;D)
Huh, that was long! Actually, languages belong to my favourite issues, though I really cannot speak about them in such sophisticated way my sister and her philological friends do.
-
Here's another photo of that FAFDM cut scene.
You can clearly see the hand brace from this angle.

Le Bon, thank you for another rare photo. Although the hand brace is from FFDM, the river in the background is from FOD, isn't it?
I corrected the level of the photo.

But it seems to be mirrored, he wears the brace on right hand! However, really rare, I think.

Good observation, Marmota. The photo is flipped. I corrected that too.
-
Well, somehow I'm used to it, so it was strange... and also his pistol belt was mirrored, which proved it. I don't think Clint would suddenly wear both his brace and his pistol on left side! ;D Especially when the brace seems to be more like a glove, only for one certain hand.
But I can understand why it was mirrored. That way it looks more like that better known photo - so probably someone thought it's the way how it should be.
Yes, really interesting photo, Le Bon! ;)
-
When i posted the above photo yesterday i thought the other photos from this scene were on this thread but i was checking today and they are on fafdm here.
http://www.fistful-of-leone.com/forums/index.php?topic=3339.0
Yes Sanjuro this is the same location at Aldea Del Fresno used for the massacre in Fistful. This seems to be either a cut scene or a promotional shoot.
Thanks for improving the photo :)
-
Yes, I remember that thread, but I wouldn't be able to find it again, so thanks for posting the link.
-
I found that photo I posted a link to in a book, Wolfgang Ebert's Wilder Westen (the Czech edition of it). But because it's only a copy I borrowed from library, I think it wouldn't be right if I posted it here.
So I'm just telling you to know.
(Though publishing such book in USA would probably be bringing owls to Athenes... It's German originally.)
I haven't found time to reading it properly yet, so I canot tell you what is the book like. I only can tell you it contains lots of pictures, but very often contemporary, from some events connected to Wild West.

Can't you even scan a photo?
I got the idea it's not as bad after I posted it... I scanned it. Wait a while until I edit it and put online. ;)
-
So here it is - it's quite big as I scanned it, so only a thumbnail. Unfortunatelly, the pattern of printing is obvious. I didn't want to edit it too much, because the details would be lost if I did.

-
I also got a copy of "Sergio Leone: backstage di un genio" just recently. Thanks to Le Bon's help and information. It's really a beautiful book. Since there are so many black pages, I need to wear cotton globes to touch it so that I won't leave my fingerprints ;D.
This is another photo in the book.

Great photo, Sanjuro! I envy you! ;D
-
Glad you got the book Sanjuro. That's a nice one of Leon and Claudia.
Here's one from the German lobby set of FAFDM. Note the chess set on the counter.

That's a nice pic too. Thanks Le Bon. Haven't seen this one before. I see Clint's smiling. I guess you can figure why he's smiling ;D.
-
I found this on a Ebay sellers CD listing. I Don't think its part of the CD, just used to illustrate the listing. The bottom left and top right are new to me. I like the one of Clint and Sergio filming the bridge scene on a makeshift platform.

One question. Are these photos larger on Ebay?

No afraid they were small on there as well.

There's been a lot of debate on this board about that second pic. It's one of the "US Front of House Stills (http://website.lineone.net/~braithwaitej/mainsite/images/gbu/gbu%20usfh.htm)" I've heard some people come to the conclusion that it must be from the "Six is the Perfect Number" scene. I don't know, I haven't seen that scene in a long time (I don't have the extended edition of GBU, just an edition that has those scenes in a "deleted scenes" section)

Thank you for the "US Front of House Stills" link, Silenzio. I remember somebody saying Angeleyes and Blondie are doing burrito eating competition?
But the scene you are talking about is a night scene. Maybe this is the preceding scene to that?
And I have no idea about that still of Tuco. Is this a part of "robbing scene" Peacemaker was talking about?
-
yea its Socorro sequence again on left again
-
But what is Tuco doing here? Making a speech?
-
Yes, that's when he's collecting money in his hat, and Blondie is in bed with the whore.
Its in the special features montage of the Socorro sequence on the extended version release.

Thank you Cigar Joe. I have the extended version but I don't remember seeing that image. I have to check it out again.

With the Van Cleef & Eastwood pic, Hanley who's writing the GBU book, told me that it is near the prison camp so i this scene would be after they have left the camp but before the night time one.
The photo of Tuco and the bar owner is at the end of the Soccoro seq when the whore has fled with the money Tuco collected.

Poor young Harmonica. It must have been difficult for him.

great pic le bon!
-
Great pictures! Thank you a lot for sharing - it's amazing to see them.
-
Great shot of the flashback scene, Le Bon! I've wondered how Leone filmed that scene, if Harmonica's brother was harnessed up there so he wouldn't fall. Ya can't really tell from the pic, but its a great one anyways!

I think you will love this...

Marmota, thanks for the nice lobby card of Jill. I love that.
Le Bon, thanks for another rare photo. That could be the over-the-shoulder shot aiming at either Cheyenne or Frank.
BTW what book is this from?
-
Yes, when Frank is approaching i think . In the full italian version you see Harmonica move the gun round so it is pointing at Frank.
Oh...this is an actual still not from a book.

I don't remember seeing Harmonica turning his gun. I guess that shot is only seen in Italian version.
That's a real still? My God, what a treasure you got!
-
Yea beautiful, encore!
-
What's that thing before his chest? Is that the piece of wood he was cutting? (lack of the proper verb :P) I think it is (what else?) but it looks a bit strange on the photo...
You're a lucky person, Le Bon, owning such treasure!

That's right, too. But I like her expression.

Thank you... I didn't remember how the knife looked.

It looks like the knife handle.
That looks like the all-important piece of wood that Harmonica is whittling at. When Frank rides up, look at Harmonica drop the piece of wood that has those marks on it.
"I think when he stops, something's gonna happen."
-
whittling
That's the verb I couldn't remember...
And it's what I thought at first, too. Maybe I should watch it again...

Wow, this is realy good. It shows how Fonda's close-up was shot without riding a real horse. Yeah, that face peeking under Leone's legs is a bit odd.
Your collection makes us jelous.

Maybe it's someone working with the light?
Your collection is fantastic...

Guys...just seen some great new filming shots on eBay if anyone is interested the link is below. It's where i got the ones i have been posting on here recently from. He has about 10 of each photo.

Thank you for sharing the info, Le Bon. I found that the seller also has photos of Cardinale, Caroline Munro and Elke Sommer. They are very enchanting. But unfortunately, Mrs. Sanjuro doesn't think so :-X.
-
Yes many of Claudia, not only from OUATITW as well. Seems he's a fan of Harryhausen also going by his listings.
-
Cool pic, Sanjuro. Thanks. :)
-
I found a picture ( very small ) that looks like a deleted scene from OUATITW.
http://www.nonsolocover.com/images/2006/maggio/c_era_una_volta_il_west-3ver.jpg
Look at the tiny picture of Harmonica all the way to the left below the duel photo.

Here's a photo that's from the deleted scen in OUATIA where Noodles is having a conversation with the women who owns the Riversdale Cemetary:

Saw this great pic on an ebay for a LP. Just make out the title...SOUND OF MACARONI WESTERNS.
Never seen it before. Looks like a promo shot at Sad Hill cemetry.
-
Wow, that's great! I even wouldn't mind owning that LP. ;D (But I'll have to leave it to others.)
-
Hey that's a Japanese LP! Why don't I have that? I never saw it when I was in Japan. Le Bon, let me know what how much you have to pay for that.
-
Its from an auction that was a few months ago and i didn't bid on it. Wish i had got the sellers name though. Can you tell what label the LP is on.
-
Sorry, Le Bon, it's too small to read in that photo.
-
Yeh...i can just make out CD-4 i think in yellow on the Lp and front cover. :-\
-
I thought that reads CD4 also. It's such a digital name for a 60's product, isn't it?

Got this great shot recently. Love the detail in it. The three cameras filming, Bronson's bag and gun by his side and the train in the background.

That's a great photo! You can see how that low angle was shot.

And another one. Jill and Sam at Sweetwater.

Great snap. You never know what comes out of Le Bon's treasure box. And the quality of your uploaded photos are getting better these days, Le Bon.

I've been looking through this and I gotta say, I've seen some great pictures. Thanks for posting these friends! :)

Thanks for posting those pics, sanjuro. There's no such thing as too many Claudia pics. ;D
Definitely not! ;D Thank you!
-
Hey Sanjuro, what's Claudia holding in the first pic?
Looks like a broom or a shotgun barrel.
-
Thanks Sanjuro.

And if you don't have that one already, I'm disappointed.
Afraid not. :( Sorry to let you down. I must be slipping.!!

Well, you still have a chance my friend. Those photos are included in the liner booklet of the definitive edition OUTUW OST.

Hey Sanjuro, what's Claudia holding in the first pic?

I don't remember seeing her cleaning the barn. So maybe a shotgun or a rifle? ???
-
It looks like a rifle and something else... no idea how such things work and how is it called, but I mean something to clean the shotgun barrel with.
-
Well, you still have a chance my friend. Those photos are included in the liner booklet of the definitive edition OUTUW OST.
Ah well i have that already but i forgot they were in there as well.
Isn't it called priming...cleaning the rifle barrel i mean!!
-
priming is putting in the powder, cleaning is called cleaning or swabbing.
-
I have the pics from Fraylng's book "Something to do With Death". I will post them tomorrow if there's a demand for them. Most of you guys have probably seen them already though.

You're right.
I have the book, so I've seen the photos.

But I haven't! It seems that book isn't available in Czech.

I don't remember it being shown.

No, I don't believe I have seen that before. Good photo. Sergio looks a bit thin here. ;D Maybe the pic is sqeezed?
-
Yes that's new to me too. Where did you find it? Thanks for posting it. It has that look when you squeeze a widesreen movie on a 4.3 ratio TV to it.
-
Look what I found at SoundtrackCollectors. It's a German EP. You know the scene but this pic is new to me.
This EP has FFDM theme on one side and La Resa Dei Conti on the other.
Compare to this Japanese EP (one of my treasures). It has the same coupling.
-
That's a great picture on the German EP. (And the Japanese one, too. ;))
Wait! I got an idea... this combination can be the reason why I sometimes saw Sixty Seconds to What? named La Resa... on the internet! ;)
-
That's very possible. "La Resa--" is the original Italian title for "Sixty Seconds to What?".
-
That's very possible. "La Resa--" is the original Italian title for "Sixty Seconds to What?".
;D I'm not familiar to Italian, unfortunatelly.
-
Sanjuro, i can't see the German ep pic...just a red x shows, can you try it again. Thanks.
-
Forget that. I just tried again and i can see it now. Must have been a momentary glitch with my PC. Yes that's a rarely seen pic. Great stuff.
-
In this Lobby card you can see a photo of Jill in the barn. Now we know what that thing she was holding was: a shotgun.
http://posters.imdb.cn/poster/16768

I wonder, what type of gun is that? I'm no expert on this... but I might need it for my work. ;D It's never well seen.

I don't see many photos of her in this costume. O0

No you're right , that's the auction scene outfit.

More rare pics! Thanks Le Bon! I love them all. Is the size of the Jill's pic original size? I'd like see it larger if possible.

Thank's to Derbent 5000's post on OUTIA, here's a still of a deleted scene from the movie.
-
I've seen that photo but wonder what's going on in this scene.
-
I've seen that photo but wonder what's going on in this scene.
I've read something by Frayling that mentions the deleted scenes from OUATIA. One of them involves Noodles in bed with Eve when someone slams on the door alerting Noodles. He grabs his gun to defend himself, but instead of a gunmen slamming open the door, it's Max in a bathing suit. He says " wanna go for a swim? " Then the scene cuts to the hotel down in Florida.
-
Thank you peacemaker for the info. So, the line "you wanna go for a swim" is used as a repeat. Very interesting.
-
thanks I always wondered about that still too.
-
I found this pic in my old Japanese movie magazine while I was doing spring cleaning. Le Bon posted the same photo before but this photo has a little wider framing. I'm sure you don't mind seeing her again anyway. :)

Great thread here.
as a reference I will post for you the German first release LC-sets. As you might know, we used to have quite big sets over here, FOD/FDM/DYS 24 cards each, GBU 25 and OUATITW 18. So they are hard to get in their entirety, especially from GBU on, since the single cards are spread all over the world... For later re-releases the sets were reprinted with less images (12 or 16)
In case anyone wants a good scan here & there, 'feel free to contact me.
so here are the 42 cards for FDM & OUATIW, hope you guys like then:

Extremely rare photo from DYS:

That's gotta be a deleted scene right Peacemaker?
-
I think it's rare because of the crewman in the background, because I recall that moment in the movie.
-
That's gotta be a deleted scene right Peacemaker?
From the looks of it, I think it's when they're on the train after the rebels have taken control of it.
In the movie, the rebel leader talks about Pancho Villa meeting Juan to which Juan looks up with his mouth full of food and says "Me?!?" I'm pretty sure this is a behind the scenes photo from that scene in the film.

I found it on a moviephoto website. A french one i believe. This was the only Leone related one. Great one though. It's probably at Cinecitta studios. Wonder if its Silvanitos room from Fistful or Monco's hotel room in FAFDM.

Wonder if its Silvanitos room from Fistful or Monco's hotel room in FAFDM.
Maybe neither of those... If any, I think the bed would point more to Silvanito's room, because in El Paso the room and bed were more "splendid".

Right. Looks like a cheap 1964 hotel, while some cheap hotels still look very similar today... at least in our country.

Just a note. I always thaught it was "Manco" all these years.

think its a typo ;)

I'm not sure, but it looks like Klaus Kinski, "Wild," to me. It looks like there's a hunchback and also suspenders too, which I don't think Indio ever wore. I could be wrong though. :)

-
They are called "gaiters" and in the military "puttee's", and before that "spatterdashes".
-
Thanks. So I got the Czech name... though I'm not sure about the Czech term... doesn't matter.
-
There like half-chaps; when you ride through the brush, keeps your legs and pants from getting torn. Wife says they actually are more popular with English riding.
In skiing, they're called gaitors, to keep your lower legs dry, apparently for those who are less prone to falling down (who would requirie full bibs).

Here's some cool rare photos in high res for you all....the first ones are from a german book, the others are from the box covers of 2 german 8mm versions (not the whole movie though)...notice Eastwood's character name on both....

It was on the SWWB and was posted there by a guy who made a new German DVD on Spaghetti westerns. The photo is on the DVD which i ordered hoping there might me some more rare images on it but there is only one more... similar to this one with the cannon. It does have some great filming footage from Great Silence though.

Cool picture. That's from the deleted scene where Harmonica is beaten up by the sheriff's deputies.
I was not aware of this scene.
It is interesting, because as Frayling said, OUATITW is the one Leone Western where the sheriff is actually decent and well-meaning and not corrupt. But if this scene had been included in the movie, I guess it would have changed the character of the sheriff

Interesting indeed.
But, we don't see the sheriff much in the movie, and he has zero interaction with the other characters, or the story. He's only present at the auction, as far as I can recall.

In the original shooting script it is strongly implied that the sheriff is being paid off by Frank or Morton himself to turn a blind eye on Frank's shenanigans. This is revealed in a brief exchange that Harmonica and the sheriff have after the beating in which Harmonica compares Frank to a chameleon. I remember reading the dialogue several years ago but from what source I don't quite remember.
-

yes, his only scene is in the auction. But he does try to run the auction fairly, and tries to help Jill get a decent price for it; he is a decent character.
In FAFDM the sheriff also is only there briefly, but he is corrupt. and in FOD, the sheriff is actually the head of one of the crime families.
btw, in GBU, I think the only part of a sheriff plays is arresting Tuco when he is brought in by Blondie, and attempting to hang Tuco. No real way to see whether he is considered corrupt or not, I guess?

Has anyone seen this before?

no, but cool.

I'm done some scouring of the net recently and found a lot of new images that I've never seen or ones that are slight variations on common images - I threw them all together in one big photo....anyone have any of these in high resolution? There's a couple of real gems in there - like Clint and Van Cleef arriving at the airport - wonder if this is a shot of Van Cleef arriving for FAFDM??

Interesting photo of the young gang (minus Noodles) with the ice truck I'd never seen before. Posted on Facebook today. The truck appears twice in the movie. If my memory serves correctly, once in a photograph hanging in Fat Mo's back room, significantly next to a photo of Deborah, a "big star now", and once trundling up the street during the watch theft.

The ice truck cometh again. I noticed it in a slightly different guise appearing as a background prop during Domenic's murder. And here's a few more stills.

thanks for the pics, Juan O0
the 8th pic from the top (which is also the 7th pic from the bottom), Claudia with Paolo Stoppa, I am virtually certain that's Leone holding the camera, not Tonino Delli Colli

Yup, you are right. Here's Leone wearing the same shirt (and now with added beard). It's a viewfinder he is holding, BTW, and not a camera. Just noticed Leone is also holding a viewfinder in the helicopter shot.

Juan, thanks, these are great. From now on, when I'm stealing photos for my signature block, I'm stealing only from you.

Thank's Dave. Note the kinda Glen Cambell looking guy who appears behind Leone in both Gui la Testa stills. He's wearing the same shirt in both pics.

Does anyone know what scene this comes from. I have put together some variant shots one of which was the basis for Italian poster and the soundtrack. There's only a couple of interior scenes where Manco is not wearing the poncho but they don't seem to tally up with them. 1 The scene with the prophet 2 sending the telegraph. 3 Nightime showdown with Mortimer.
I was wondering if its from the cut scene with the hoteliers wife, Maria Krup?

Looks like rafters behind his head, check all the ceiling shots to see what matches.
