In the beginning this looked promising, but then the screenplayers and directors lost their bearings and stuffed the story with secondary episodes which, even if you are wide awake, will fail to keep you in that state for long. The story has a Jack Sparrow coming back to town  after having done unjustly a stretch. He avenges on the ones who benefited from this and becomes the corrupted boss of the town itself (the name of the town, as in many other SW is Red Rock: would like to know why). He appoints a weak man as the sheriff so he thinks he can manoeuvre him at his will. Things turn up differently and the sheriff will be instrumental in his distruction.
There are scenes which are really embarassing as they are incongruous, like the one where the ex-convict introduces his fiancÚ to the town's elders who should feel offended by the gesture. So you see three elder women sittin' on a sofa looking outraged at each other(or at least I believe so): to have a scene like that work (well, do its duty) you need a portrait of the city's mores and personalities: but as it stays isolated it just demonstrates the ineptitude of the filmakers. Another by-story is the one about a girl who while doing some exercise with her beau on a haystack is killed accidentally by a rake hidden there. Yeah, Sparrow tries to make use of the fact to blackmail the beau (i was sleepy while this was happening so I might have missed a link) but really you're wondering all the time where this is leading. Cipriani's score is under is usual par.
