I haven't seen Black Snake Moan but I've heard good things. What's the verdict here?

I saw a clip from this film of Sam L. Jackson doing a version of the song Stagger Lee... and he actually played the guitar!  That was so cool that it made me want to see the movie.

SLJ did pick the accoustic. this proves my theory that the E- min. pentetonic scale can be addictive. once you get into it many of us just don't want to proceed when this scale says so much so simply as if he inherated the skill to play less is more which is the prerequisite of the E-minor pentetonic scale. b.b. king says it best. speed isn't nearly as important as much as making a single note express a feeling.

the chord changes are usually just 3 chords. so much can be fitted within, without all the tedium. british blues guitar virtuoso eric clapton understood this from day one.

LAZURUS did pick the accoustic. but, i beg to differ... when LAZURUS unpacks that electric gibson  in the night club, all hell brokes loose.  i'll wager $ 100.00 here and now that mr. RY COODER was playing those licks.

now somebody coud gris gris me w/ a trick bag, and say screw you cisco, it was steve via. but no f**king way was it SLJ. the question is moot. samuel has a style all his own. but keep in mind, when you're dealing w/ the E min0r PENTATONIC scale, the devil himself had to have be on the set.  >:D  it had to be RY COODER.  O0

Hey man, I just saw the clip.   O0

That Minor Pentatonic never fails.  You can really make that scale groan.

As for Steve Vai, I saw him in concert at a place called the Big Easy here in Boise Idaho.

SLJ did pick the accoustic. this proves my theory that the E- min. pentetonic scale can lead to dare i say ? too much fun ?, lol

great in depth interviews w/ the film's director craig brewer, and SLJ, who explains how he taught himself how to play guitar. i've always been facinated by what goes on behind the camera. i watch and try to read where the deiting takes place.

eastwood is so effective w/ his easy going way of directing.

Rojo, great choice for the 100th.  One of my all-time favorites.

Cisco... you covered all my other favorites.

Of the delta stuff, my favorite was Skip James.  With my other two favorites being Robert Johnson and the magnificent Mississippi John Hurt. As for the Piedmont blues musicians, Blind Boy Fuller, Reverend Gary Davis, Blind Blake, Brownie McGhee, all great.

Other great ones (most of which you already mentioned):

John Lee Hooker
Leadbelly
Lightning Hopkins
Muddy Waters
Elmore James
Big Boy Crudup
T-Bone Walker
Pee Wee Crayton
The Three Kings (Freddie, Albert, and  B.B.)

EDIT: can't live with myself without mentioning Son House and Blind Willie Johnson... as a matter fact... just everyone Cisco Mentioned plus Mississippi John Hurt.
