"when ya gotta shoot - shoot, don't talk".  This got the biggest laugh in the theaters in the late 1960s, absolutely.  End of subject.  Second was "Idiots - it's for you".

Second was "Idiots - it's for you".

I was just about to say (when I saw your post O0)   that one of the funniest probably is:

See you again, id... idi... idiiii...

Idiots! It`s for you! ;D ;D ;D

Great, simply great. O0

I must add, though, this is only one of many great lines in the film. Really, there is a lot of them... O0

I guess that was Age and Scarpelli's main contribution.

Could also be:

Blondie, I'm very happy that you are working with me...and we're together again. I get dressed, I kill him, I be right back.

And that`s followed by: "I just forgot to mention, there is five of them! Five...!? Hmmm, that`s why you came to Tuco..." Great, too! O0

You took the words right out of my mouth Bill Carson. That's my favorite in the film.

My favourite is Eastwood's off entrance line. Can you be cooler than that?

Hey, titoli, how about pointing out where the Italian means something different than the English. I know how you admire the writing of Mickey Knox......

That is a job I kindly leave to the ones who say his translating and adapting excels the writing of people like Leone, Donati, Age, Scarpelli and the rest.

"Un... unk... unk... there is no name on it!"

I love when Tuco has problems with reading... it seems he doens't know all letters, just a few...  ;D

And Leone had to show Tuco reading (even poorly), probably pretty unlikely for a Mexican then, but Tuco wouldn't have been able to pick out Arch Stanton's grave without that.  So Leone knew he had to show Tuco reading beforehand, part of his greatness and attention to detail.  Tuco would've seen his photo on the wanted poster, didn't need to read that.

Uh, Tuco's brother, Father Ramirez, could probably read. It doesn't matter that Tuco is Mexican, it has more to do with his level of education. His brother chose a path that provided him with reading skills, Tuco chose a profession/life-style where such a thing was unnecessary.

Tuco knows to read just as much as he needed to.

Something similar is in the OUATW when Harmonica and Cheyeene talks and when Cheyeene explains that he know to count "all the way up to six" if he need to.

Either "When you have to shoot-shoot, don't talk." or  "You see, there's two kinds of people in the world, my friend. Those with loaded guns and those who dig. you dig."

or     "One bastard goes in and two comes out".
