Title: The inside of Mesa Verde Station
Post by: Regis on September 23, 2008, 03:12:43 AM
I really found it. It is a pub called "Molly Malone" in the street "Paseo de Almeria" in Almeria Spain. It is about 1 km from the station of Mesa Verde (Almeria). It is a very beautiful place particularly well decorated.

Regis

Sorry for the bad quality of the pictures.

Excellent find Regis, well done!

As a matter of interest how did you manage to find it?

Bravo Regis! Bellissima, just sort of thing this board is so great for.

The fact that the pub has an "Oirish" name is nicely ironic.

Now you can look at my web page (It took me a while to do it). The pictures are of a better quality.
You will find the answer of how I found it.

In the next future I will try to make a complete web site of my trip in Spain where I visited 57 places where Sergio Leone shot his films.

Hi Regis,
Any idea what the building was, before it was the 'Molly Malone' pub ?
Cheers.

If I'm picking the right building then looking down from Google maps it looks like it may have been a theatre or cinema.

Here's the link http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&ie=UTF8&ll=36.83711,-2.463609&spn=0.00076,0.001202&t=h&z=20 (http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&ie=UTF8&ll=36.83711,-2.463609&spn=0.00076,0.001202&t=h&z=20)

Snooping around Google Earth and multimap.com (which has a really cool "bird's eye" view function, by the way, check out your house if its covered), it seems the pub is just part of that enormous building which is called the Teatro Cervantes, and indeed is a cinema (or at least a performing arts center). Here's a couple of pics from Panoramio

I found in this site some indication about the building: they are in spanish, I try to translate. It's about at half page.

MERCANTILE AND INDUSTRIAL CLUB
The building is a part and connected to Cervantes Theatre. Its halls has been used for cultural and literary activities, exhibitions and classical balls during carnival and New Year parties. It has decorations inside,  made in 1920.

Almost at the bottom of the page there are also indication about the station.

With respect, I offer the following translation:

... Its halls have  been used for cultural and literary activities, exhibitions and classical carnival and end of the year dances. Its inside decoration dates from 1920.
