Title: The Bank Job (2008)
Post by: The Firecracker on January 11, 2009, 10:52:15 PM
I swear there was a thread already on this and I double swear I started it... but I can't find it.

Best caper flick in ages!

9/10 O0

My comment on the Rate the Last Movie... thread will suffice.

The Bank Job - 6/10 - Pretty standard, straight-forward heist flick with a few neat twists. Not a whole lot to report: entertaining without being particularly involving, standard-issue direction (interestingly, by Roger Donaldson of The Bounty), adequate-to-good cast, a few neat ideas and an annoying, cloying score that Jenkins would no doubt describe as "sonic wallpaper". It seems to be, on first reflection, one of those movies that's entertaining enough whilst being watched, but remains in your memory all of five minutes.

This movie is not bad, but somewhere in the second part I really got bored. The script is good, complex and everything, but unfortunately I found it overloaded with characters/actors that just didn't have the charisma to pull it up. Save Statham and Suchet, this was obviously a long way from ''Heat'' and other similar ''the robbery went wrong'' masterpieces. Plus, was it supposed to be set in the early 70s? Couldn't really tell...

6.5 - 7/10

I watched this last night on Spanish tv and they definitely mentioned Princess Margaret as the person in the dodgy photos...but I didnīt recall this when I watched it on Channel 4 about a year ago

Can anyone clarify on this censorship.
