Title: Support Your Local Gunfighter (1971)
Post by: Ben Tyreen on January 27, 2008, 11:26:07 PM
Support Your Local Gunfighter (1971)  5/10  I like Support Your Local Sheriff, but this one was nowhere near as good.  The only reason to see this one is Jack Elam as a down and out cowboy/gunslinger who teams up with James Garner to pose as a famous pistolero, Swifty Morgan.  His last line is sort of a dig at spaghettis, but it works.

As Elam's explaining what happens to all the characters, he says "And me?  I went on to become a big star in Italian westerns!"  ;D

Not only I did like this, I'm not even sure it is worse than Sheriff, as other posters here pointed out.  It is funny for a good 2\3 and towards the end they could have made some cut. Still Elam gives a very good performance throughout (his face while Garner does his courtship scam is great) and Garner is good as usual, well supported by Pleshette. I give it 7\10.

They usually show them back to back here and then its more apparent the first is better.

Probable. But this is good.
