To me Sergio Leone is identified with an esthetic vision of cinema, not with a genre wich he created or not.

A bit of both. To viewers, he's famous for being the founding father of spaghettis, but in the film-making world his style is probably more influential. Tarantino, for example, was heavily influenced by Leone but never made westerns.

most people think of leone as 'the man who created the spaghetti western' but probably he has influenced as much other film as the western.
