Title: Fonda on Fonda
Post by: cigar joe on August 30, 2010, 03:43:00 AM
Just caught some of this this morning on TCM, apparently Shirlee Fonda shot home movies on the set of Once Upon A Time In The West, they showed just a little clip, it would be great to see if there is more of the behind the scenes footage.

That's interesting, I'd definitely like to see it.

But something else I've been wondering for some time: was she Italian? Someone on the DVD says she was Italian, but I don't think that's true, is it?

Tonino Delli Colli, I think.

A brief internet search says she was from Aurora, Illinois

I presume he meant ''Italian'' as ''of Italian descent'', but that doesn't sound all that more true.

Well, there is more.
But private homemovies are hard to get nevertheless.

I met Peter briefly twice regarding some of my projects
and my dream was always to get closer to him so I could
asked for that footage his stepmom took back in 1968 :)

(the 25 secs from FONDA ON FONDA are nice,
they show bits of the filming of Fonda's arrival
at the end (to meet Harmonica).

How time of the docu did they devote to OUATITW?

It sounds cool regardless; I may even have seen bits and pieces of it at some point.

Not much longer than a minute.

It's the only behind the scenes footage I EVER saw on the Sergio-westerns.
A reason why I really love it.

I would kill for homemovies from the GBU set :)

A quick search for this documentary on the web only yielded a page where you can download a torrent of it. I have no experience downloading torrents nor do I wish to start now, but I'm dying to see that behind-the-scenes footage, even if it is only for a few seconds!

I recently saw TCM's "Fonda on Fonda," a 1-hour documentary on Henry's career, narrated by Hanoi Jane.

There were about 90 seconds on OUATITW, which included some home videos taken by Henry's wife Shirlee on set. (btw, there were also similar clips of home videos -- silent and in color -- taken by the Fonda family on the set of other movies, including My Darling Clementine and Fort Apache ). In case anyone is interested in seeing the OUATITW bit, I recorded those 90 seconds and uploaded 'em. Enjoy  :)

I just added another clip from "Fonda on Fonda" which features color home videos on the sets of My Darling Clementine and Fort Apache. The quality is poor, but it should still be an enjoyable watch  :)

In case anyone is interested in seeing the OUATITW bit, I recorded those 90 seconds on my phone (in 3 separate 30-second clips, the max. my phone allows!) and uploaded 'em. They're obviously not the greatest quality, but it should be briefly enjoyable   ;)

TCM showed "Fonda on Fonda" again, and again I recorded the bit about OUATITW on my phone. Only now that it is several years later and I have a beautiful iPhone 6 Plus, it's on a single video and much better quality  :)

Mike, if you have any connection with Peter Fonda and can somehow get ahold of the full home videos taken on the set of OUATITW and MY DARLING CLEMENTINE and FORT APACHE, etc etc etc, that would be pretty awesome  ;)

It would be interssting to know the reaction of his children when they saw the entrance scene.
