The Good, The Bad and The Ugly / Re: Blue Ray

I don't care how good it looks I still can't get past that re-dub with those horrible gun shots. I'll stick with my original dvd. At least it's anamorphic and not a bad transfer.

But first they need to redo the sound on GBU they just released this year and get the gunshots right.

I totally agree, it's hard to watch that disc..i still stick to the 1st one

Sergio Leone News / NEW dvd's in 2005 FOD FAFDM AND DYS

there has been news that those movies will be restored. I don't know if this has been posted yet but here ya go.....

The restored Fistful of Dollars, For A Few Dollars More and Duck You Sucker DVDs will be release in Europe around April and in the U.S. in the summer of 2005. Just finished the supplements and damn happy to be done. I know Aldo will be in the supplements as they interviewed at my house. Chris Frayling is in town to do some narration tracks. We will meet with MGM and Chris Monday and get some better dates for Leone Exhibit starting in August 2005. Chris Frayling is doing narration for The Good, The Bad and Ugly with the hope that they will re-release the film PROPERLY in its right state later, although Sony bought MGM we will keep our fingers crossed.
Have seen the completed films and appear to have the missing scenes restored as well as the A.B.C. forward with Harry Dean Stanton in Fistful Of Dollars.
Loads of unpublished stills will be on the supplements as well.

Off-Topic Discussion / Re:Favorite Robert De Niro Film?
« on: September 02, 2004, 07:29:01 PM »
What happend to Bobby D in the past years. He has really picked some crappy roles. At the peak of his career he had such good roles and classic performances. Seems like nobody can write a good movie for him anymore! He should team up with Scorsese again!

My fav - Raging Bull or Taxi Driver

« on: September 02, 2004, 07:24:10 PM »
I guess for me it would be the Wild Bunch. I love the end when Pike and the boys get ready to go to  the general and to try and save Angel. No words, just great acting. There are so many great scene's in that movie, I can't list them all.

General Discussion / Re:LEONE SEQUENCE?
« on: September 02, 2004, 07:18:50 PM »
i can't really pick ONE sequence but I guess I'll go with one for now. I like the one in OUTITW when Frank shoots the family and the little boy runs out of the house and that music hits! and we see frank and the boys approaching the house   classic ... and the opening sequence is great also... and what about GBU shoot out...ahhhh! I can't pick!~

I really don't know much about the movie. I hope it's an ok western. I read that there are some wild special effects in it. I'm suprised to see it on dvd already. I wasn't expecting it so soon. Can't wait to check it out.

I always dug the opening to Leone: The Professional, the Luc Besson movie. And of course OUATITW.

I agree, the sounds of the gunshots are horrible and totally noticeable. I can't understand why they couldn't keep the old ones in. And at the beginning when Tuco jumps through the glass, that sound effect was also bad. Sounds to new I guess. For me who has seen this move countless times, I really can't stand it. I'll probably watch it a couple times and then just go back to the old version. That's the one I remember anyway, and the transfer wasn't half bad on that one.

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly / Re:GBU Special Edition DVD Review
« on: May 18, 2004, 11:45:03 AM »
For someone who has seen this movie countless times, the sound effects remaster is horrible. Especially the gun shots. I know they wanted to re do it in 5.1 but why  would they change them?! It's totally noticeable! That was part of the charm of the movie was the *twanggg of the shots >:(
