Do you others agree with me about the cemetery scene?  Blondie threw Tuco a shovel and let him keeping digging at the Stanton grave, full knowing that nothing was there, I think to flush Angel Eyes out.  Blondie EXPECTED Angel Eyes to show up as the  grave was being unearthed; Blondie shows no surprise when Angle Eyes appears, keeps 100% cool.

My guess is that Angel Eyes was a couple hundred yards away watching everything play out, until he felt the time was right to appear.  Maybe Angel Eyes was suspicious about that being the correct grave, or he likely would've simply shot Blondie and Tuco in the back instead of tossing a second shovel (and then being screwed when no money was in the Stanton grave).

Off-Topic Discussion / Rawhide "Piney" aired 9 October 1964

Rawhide "Piney" aired 9 October 1964

This episode also featured Lee Van Cleef (and Ed Begley).  Interesting too because of the timing of October 1964. A Fistful of Dollars (Magnificent Stranger to Eastwood) had already been filmed.

A Fistful of Dollars (Per un pugno di dollari) was released in Italy on 12 September 1964, and of course neither Eastwood or Van Cleef at the time of this Rawhide episode had any clue that within 2 years they would become huge international stars.

Here from "Piney", Begley in center, Van Cleef on the right:

Off-Topic Discussion / Toby Keith - Clint Eastwood song/video

Well, Clint is 90 now.  He's won 5 Academy Awards (none for acting), and has even composed the music for a couple of his films.

The first full minute of that video is the music from the final gunfight of Lee Van Cleef and Gian Maria Volente from "For a Few Dollars More" played slowly, which starred Eastwood (1965), music by Ennio Morricone

Off-Topic Discussion / Realism

After seeing quite a few characters in American TV and western films discard their canteens after running out of water (what if there was a spring a mile ahead?), I did a simple Google search and found some questioning similar on a Gunsmoke board:

I think Lucas would be so rich from the bounties on most of the guys he killed, plus from selling their horses, saddles, guns, etc.  But he is always poor or just getting by.

I don't know if I've posted this before, but about 15 years ago at work I made some scans at lunchtime and printed in color, to make a custom Sergio Leone checkbook cover.

General Discussion / Anybody ever notice....

Anybody ever notice....that in westerns, whether Spaghetti or US or TV westerns, that horses who are tied up even for hours NEVER have a pile of crap on the ground behind them?  These animals poop all the time.  And when they piss it's like a small flood.

Mrs. Cusser - who owns two horses - also says a rider does NOT tie a horse up by his reins too.  And that the "mule" in Fistful is really just an ugly horse.

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly / Clint Eastwood Pebble Beach golf
« on: February 11, 2019, 08:33:31 AM »
Clint once again was in the commentator booth at the Pebble Beach tournament, rolled his eyes when they showed the tournament perk bobblehead.

Commentators said that he earned his CBS coat due to his years on Rawhide.
