Grindhouse looks mighty stupid to me. I'll avoid it at all costs.

Check it out if you don't believe me!

Since all the best ones were taken, I'll stick with RESERVOIR DOGS. 8 tough muthas walking in slo-mo doing nothing but being cool, how can you not love it?

Off-Topic Discussion / L'Armata Brancaleone

Can't believe nobody mentioned it in this board. It's my favorite comedy! It's a 1966 Italian movie directed by Mario Monicelli, and in the cast you'll find no more no less than Gian Maria Volonté!

L'Armata Brancaleone is a story about a band of rogues led by medieval 'knight' Brancaleone da Norcia (played by Vittorio Gassman) on their quest to find the city of Aurocastro. Along the way they have a series of misfortunes, like rescuing a damsel in ditress, a city infested with the plague, and a Bizantine knight who crosses their path.

If you missed on this, go watch it immediately. It's a must see! O0

Awww come on.....

Lol, You forgot one of the best ones right at the beginning the nice hole in Guy Calloway's forehead

We saw the hole after but we didn't see the hole exploding in the head. I take it they painted the hole in his head and then told him to fall. :)

??? I have one minute more!

If I'm not mistaken I saw a version with 208 minutes. :)

And the version I was going to buy had 121 minutes! :o

Yes, I'm watching films on computer.
And no, I haven't seen Magnificient Seven. My sisters have and at those times I was too small in parents' opinion. We didn't get the opportunity to see it again.

Lucky you. You'll get to see it without knowing what will happen, unlike me. I suggest you check the movie after, it's worth a watch. I haven't seen the sequels, but they don't look much good to me.

Correct. But I had to look on the DVD cover to find out. ;D With all the talking about regions here (and region-free DVD players) I got totally lost in them. ::) Especially because I usually don't care about them, because our computer can work as a region-free player...

So you watch your movies in your computer?

Uh... so far it seems like my intermission will probably take 2 weeks or more. I'm buried in preparations for our graduation ball, that will take place in a week. The day after it is free (naturally...), so hopefully I will have time to watch the rest then.

Good luck, hope you can see the rest soon because trust me it's worth it. :)

A question: Have you seen 'The Magnificent Seven'? It's a remake in a western setting.

And it has an intermission, everybody watches it in 2 parts anyway (if they have the complete version). Whether you wait 2 minutes to see the second part, 2 hours, 2 days, or 2 months should be entirely at the discretion of the viewer (in the Home Theater Age).

The copy I rented didn't have an intermission. ??? Maybe the DVD region has something to do with it, mine is 4, marmota-b if i'm not wrong lives in Czezh republic, so that makes it what, region 2? I don't know.

I never thought of that. I always thought it was just budget money not enough, or that blood/ketchup satchels with triggered explosive weren't available.

In fact, I don't recall a shot in the movie with someone getting shot and the gunshot wound. Maybe there was, but I don't remember.

Off-Topic Discussion / Re: Bond film mini reviews...
« on: January 18, 2007, 11:43:03 AM »
I am a James Bond n00b and only saw 6 movies, in this order:

1-Dr. No 7/10
2-Goldfinger 7,5/10
3-Thunderball 7/10
4-Die Another Day 7/10
5-Casino Royale 8/10
6-From Russia with Love 7/10

I wonder how was Octopussy not banned or forced to change name? Or Goldfinger with Pussy Galore?

Agree, it's a masterpiece and one of the best ever. May I ask, why are you watching the movie in two parts?

A Fistful of Dollars / Re: Yojimbo
« on: January 11, 2007, 12:11:26 PM »
Hmm.... to name a few...

Red Beard
The Bad Sleep Well
Stray Dog
Throne of Blood

I would mention Drunken Angel but it doesn't have an R1 release.

Thanks, and thanks Tuco-Harmonica too.

Also, my country is on the region 4 for DVDs, so maybe I can find that movie. And I have already seen Yojimbo. :)

General Discussion / Re: IMDb
« on: January 10, 2007, 06:49:12 PM »
Actually I think the IMDB top 250 is a good list, there are of course the occasional movie you think should be higher/lower, and a couple of movies that shamefully aren't on top (DYS :'(), but overall it's pretty good. I've been using it as a guide to rent movies and so far it has only disappointed me twice.

General Discussion / Re: 2 Sides of Leone?
« on: January 10, 2007, 06:41:28 PM »
5-15 minutes? If I remember well, there's not a single word spoken in GBU until the 10-minute mark, and we're well on 1 hour into the movie before Tuco finds Carson. Now that I think of it, OUATITW is just 4 minutes longer than GBU, so I don't see much of a difference.
