Looks like Leningrad is out in theaters in Russia. Not sure if this was Leone's story.

I saw a special showing of Inglorious Basterds on Saturday and the cinema was packed with scene girls. They all dressed like whores.
It was awesome.

It must be difficult living under the shadow of an awesome parent or sibling.
Somebody should really choose from the infinite number of historical figures' less popular/talented brother/son/daughter and make them the subject of a bio pic.
His son is very talented. Would be great if he did scores for Hollywood like his contemporaries Dario Marianelli and Alexandre Desplat who are from Italy and France respectively.

Avid Arad and Naofumi Okamoto wanted him for this film, and this will be his first english languaged film since The Legend of 1900. Maybe if he does well, he'll get Hollywood money for Leningrad. They pay more than Medusa and the French.

I don't think the film is ever going to be made. At least not by Giuseppe Tornatore. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0432314/I think someone has beat him to it. I am not sure if this is the story by Leone, but it is a film about Lenningrad with one or two American characters. It's a shame because I thought he was going to do it right after Baaria, but it seems he is working on a project for a Burmese nobel prize winner entitled "The Lady"

It is not news that Il Maestro's son is an accomplished composer in his own right, but I found out he composed the Love Theme to Cinema Paraidso, but the theme was so identical to his father's style that Daddy Morricone had to help with the compesition but allowed his son to take full credit.

Not sure what Ws means, but I must ask if anyone has already seen this film, because it hasn't been released in North America yet.
I have the soundtrack though, I love it, an easy Oscar win for Maestro Morricone if they bother to nominate him (which they won't).

I liked it well-enough I gave it an 8/10 I think) but it didn't strike me as having much rewatch value. Pitt was pretty bleh but the rest of the cast was fine, particularly Blanchett, who has never been more beautiful. It managed to transcend its gimmick IMO and still would have been worthwhile had it been a straightforward melodrama. The stuff with Hurricane Katrina was a waste of time though.
I can't even agree with you on Cate Blanchet. She was annoying down to her fake New Orleans accent. Her character wasn't likable at all to me. The love story itself was superficial. The film felt like a deperate attempt for Fincher to win an Oscar. There was no reason for the film to be so long. And the movie was too dark. They obviously wanted to cover up the flaws in the CGI, especially at the end when Brad Pitt is suppose to be a teenager. He was in the shadow most of the time.

I finally watched the 160 minute version, and it is so much better than the 120 minute flop. Not one second of The Maestro's music should have been cut.

I didn't think it was a problem, I accepted it as sailor speak. I remember 1900 having a bit of a potty mouth, but what do you expect from a guy who was raised by sailors?
Great! I should have no problem acquiring it the uncut version.

Great review! I myself noticed something weird about the dialogue but didn't realize it was because Tornatore's English is not so great (probably a little better than the Maestro). I felt cheated upon hearing that not only the film was cut, but they don't even have a full English language version.
The last part made me lauh, because his next film was indeed cut. Then after that they stopped bothering to promote them just released them without anyone but fans noticing.

Oh my reviews are worthless. I liked Ashes and Diamonds the best though. Loved the opening scene and that shot of the vodka bottle.
