Duck, You Sucker / Re: Bogdanovich
« on: July 22, 2005, 09:22:18 PM »
[quote author=Walton liI think Bogdanovich is probably a better film historian than director, but at least his heart seems to be in the right place.

Let's not get too carried away here. Artists (directors probably most of all),  usually care about their work more than anything (except themselves), and will sacrifice everything/everyone else to bring about their "vision".

Bogdonavich used his work and relationship  with Welles to gain respect  in Hollywood and first heard about "Picture Show" from actor Sal Mineo while writing about John Ford on location for "Cheyenne Autumn"

Mineo had hoped produce/star in the film, and ended up on the outside.

[However my viewing of LOTD the night before in NY (in the same cinema infact Lowes on Times Square) was ruined by someone performing loud sexual service on someone 2 rows behind me

Most likely Tom and Katie were bored by watching War of the Worlds again and slid into your theatre for some privacy.  ;)

Once Upon A Time In The West / Re: Same hat

I can't say either way on the Cheyenne/Man with no Name comparison, but I''ve got a bit of trivia about another hat in OUATITW.

Keenan Wynn did a screen test at MGM in the early 40's and took off with the hat that Leslie Howard wore in Gone With the Wind-- wore it in all his westerns. That's the one  he's wearing  at the auction.

Thanks, I just ordered my copy.  I'm trying to find a source for a Morricone TV theme "Men From Shiloh" from about '69 or '70.
Anyone seen this on a collection? Thanks

Thanks for the info on the soundtrack with more material.

Has anyone come across a Morricone tv theme from a show called "The Men From Shiloh" from about '69-'70?

What music is used in the special feature trailer?

I recently heard it in a commercial, as well.

Check out Peckinpah's Ride the High Country. Ends with Joel McCrea catching a few slugs in the gut and asking his partner, Randolph Scott, to turn away and not watch him die.
