1  General Information / General Discussion / Best Blu-ray Sources for Trilogy on: August 23, 2017, 08:58:42 AM
What are generally regarded as the best Blu-ray (with english) sources for each of the trilogy movies?  I currently have old DVD versions now and would like to upgrade.  I know there are a lot of versions out there now but it's hard to keep track ... Mondo, Ripley, MGM, Universum, etc.

Thanks.

Curious to know if anyone has/will be getting this version.  Would like to know if it rivals the quality of the Ripleys version of FOD.
3  General Information / General Discussion / Re: New "official" Man With No Name comics.... on: April 29, 2008, 05:43:56 AM
It MUST be that Dynamite wasn't allowed to use the likeness of Eastwood.   I was looking at my German version MGM DVDs this morning.   The kind of artwork inside those boxes is I guess what I was hoping to get with the comics.  Nothing is right in the preview.  The mullet, the solid shirt, the boots tucked into the pants, the extra long serrape, the fact that he's double fisting forty-fives, etc.

I guess you just have to remember that it's not Leone.  So many things would have to come together.

Check out the issue 2 cover.  Is it just me, or does TMWNN look like Steven Segal?

This site has a preview of the comic:

Now I'm officially not excited.  What's with his hair?!  The artwork is nothing like the Eastwood portrayal.

It can't be any worse than the Millard novels Tongue  The dialogue in those books were corny.  Hopefully the comics will minimize cheesy dialogue and strengthen story lines with the graphics.

He didn't draw the cover art if that's what you're complaining about. Why don't you guys wait, pick up the first issue, and then judge it?

Oh I agree, I'll definitely pick it up.  I think it's a neat idea and I'm curious to see how they turn out.  I'm just not too crazy about the posted cover art (if in fact those are the ones they end up going with).

Here is an update on the Man With No Name comics series:

It includes the different cover art for the first issue.  Myself ... I don't really like the looks of either one of them.
8  Films of Sergio Leone / For a Few Dollars More / Re: On Blue Ray and Hd-dvd in December on: February 19, 2008, 07:53:01 PM
Now that HD-DVD is officially dead, I wonder what that means for Blu-Ray Leone discs?

How much better can the HD releases possibly be than the SE DVDs that recently came out?   The original prints are quite old.  I'm just wondering if we will be able to tell a dramatic difference in the quality.

I already have the German SE versions and was eagerly waiting the HD versions, but now I'm not so sure.
10  General Information / General Discussion / Re: Rattlesnake Grips on: September 14, 2007, 08:13:03 AM
Every closeup grip shot that I can see with the gun is from the right side, whether he's loading (FOD), cleaning (GBU), or holstered (All).  Anyone out there spot a frame where the gun grip is visible from the left side?

Anyone know if the silver rattlesnake was on both sides of Joe's/Manco's/Blondie's gun grips, or just the one side?

archangel -

Just a side question ... how did you create the font for the titles on the sheet music?  They look like the font from A Fistful of Dollars.  Were they hand drawn or did you use something else? Just curious.  Thanks.

I think, in the end, Blu-Ray will win.  There are too many big names backing Blu-Ray right now.  But I guess you never know.

I'm really interested in the upcoming Sony Blu-Ray version of "For a Few Dollars More".  I wonder how much cleaner the image will look compared to the German version currently out ... which I really like.
14  General Information / General Discussion / Leone Trilogy in HD on: January 13, 2006, 01:51:18 PM
Do you think the Leone trilogy will ever be released in High Definition (Blu-Ray or HD-DVD)?  Do you think the films and their original quality could benefit?
15  General Information / General Discussion / Title FONTS used in Leone trilogy? on: October 09, 2005, 01:12:25 PM
Has anyone seen, or know where to download, computer fonts used in the title sequences for AFOD, FAFDM, and TGBU?  Thanks.
