Yes, I'd rather spend the time watching Marx Brothers films.... 3

I'm always looking out for stuff like this of course. Alternative TV-versions etc. No luck so far.
But 2023/2024 will be superb years regarding Peckinpah releases. I am working on big stuff. Wish I could talk about it, but I can't of course. I never reveal anything before the labels make the announcement... 4

Nice memories...
I wrote a 10-page special for CINEMA RETRO years ago. Sarafian liked it very much and always had a copy on him to show it to people... He then sent me some signed photos ("Thanks for keeping my film alive") ![]() ![]() ![]() 5

Thanks !!
IMPRINT does not have to read here, they will do all upcoming Peckinpah boxes with me anyway. I have few "ultimate" releases planned, just knock on wood... 7

Sergio Leone News / Re: New LEONE documentary by Francesco Zippel« on: September 11, 2022, 12:28:16 AM »
Yeah, Tarantino already lessened the fun watching the CORBUCCI doc, and the same thing happened with this one I suppose.
I understand they use his name for promotion, but they overdo it. LEONE doesn't need that really, his name is big enough ![]() Still the lack of interest here puzzles me - it's the only feature-length doc on Leone now and nobody seems to care (?). 9

I guess there is a thread here in the forum already
and I can't find it? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_tTsH6ppFOw 10

IMPRINT: more will come. But as usual I never leak details, it's up to the labels to announce releases (that's also why the almost
never answer to emails in detail - 5 minutes later it would be all over the internet...) 11

Thank you too! Looks like we will collaborate on more Peckinpah titles. Of course I will try... but dealing with Japan is out of the ordinary ![]() 12

Here's a short film I made about our Sam Peckinpah festival in Portugal (May 2022). It was just wonderful, you get the idea when you watch the film...

Other Films / Re: Horse Soldiers, Texas, Escape from Fort Bravo« on: May 31, 2022, 07:17:48 AM »
Each his own, but JOHN FORD even a Top 5 director in this home, HORSE SOLDIERS doesn't make the Top 30 of his work. It was a troubled production and overshadowed by the death of a stuntman who had worked for Ford for 10 years.... But it is still fine entertainment, yet next to TWO RODE TOGETHER it is probably his weakest western. Still you get Holden, Strother Martin, some great photography and Ford moments. Constance Towers unfortunately has no onscreen appeal unfortunately. The script didn't help her much either.
But Ford came back with one of the finest films of the 60s, LIBERTY VALANCE. He designed it as a farewell song to the changing west where the characters are even more important than in his other films, hence the decision to focus on the people, not the landscape (as did Hawks 3 years earlier with RIO BRAVO). I have an entertaining collection on HORSE SOLDIERS in my archive, incl. some 100 unpublished behind the scenes stills. Unfortunately this time Kino Lorber was not interested. Maybe on another release... ![]() 14

I think if someone was interested, they could do have done their own homework
![]() responsible for people's shopping lists ![]() Not sure there was any interest here anyway. By the way, it is already out of print. There are still online dealers who have some left, but who knows for how long. As for other countries releasing my Osterman package, it looks rather bad right now (complicated rights situation, Osterman was an Indie production) nice podcast about the release: https://open.spotify.com/show/4KctRsnasXNeXjjcfC5VcK |
