Off-Topic Discussion / Re: The Deer Hunter (1978)
« on: January 07, 2007, 11:29:55 AM »
I was just expecting a good story, compelling story and scenes that aren't boring and way too dran-out.

Well it was a good story. Not compelling but a good story nonetheless.Well to me I didnt find it to drag at all but thats me but see im still confused on what you mean. Do you mean that the first hour is boring and basically the last 45 minutes are boring or what? I really want to hear a more detailed review on why this movie deserves a 2.5.

I was expecting it to be a pretty damn good movie, considering it is #130 in the IMDB top 250, and that list had never disappointed me thus far (Except for Toy Story).
I guess what i meant was that were you expecting a Chuck Norris type film or a Full Metal Jacket film or what?

I apologize for wasting your time ranting about a movie but I really don't get what everyone praises about this movie which to me just plain sucks!

It was 3 hours of pain, which I only felt sitting through Ghosts of Mars (the only movie worse than TDH), the movie demanded us to care about characters which have no development at all, plus there is the sloppy editing (they are hunting a deer and then BANG now they're slaughtering vietnamese! It felt like the editor used a butcher knife to make this cut!), acting and directing bad all around, and the only good thing about the movie was DeNiro. I give it 2.5/10.

So to all you folks who think this is a masterpiece, I demand, no I politely ask for an explanation!

can i ask you what were you expecting in the movie?

Off-Topic Discussion / Re: Greatest performances of all time?

These are the greatest perfomances for B-Films:

Samuel L.Jackson-Snakes on a Plane

Peter Weller-Robocop

Jean Claude Van Damm-Universal Soldier

Anyways, would they let The Peacemaker into a bar? I DON'T THINK SO!

I highly doubt it unless with the proper ID then yes but that idea is just plain despicable >:D

Why not head over to the Korova Milk Bar? To sharpen you up and make you ready for a bit of the old ultra-violence?  :)

General Discussion / 2 Sides of Leone?
« on: January 02, 2007, 09:58:09 PM »
Have you noticed that the Dollars Trilogy and the Once Upon A Time movies are told differently? I mean in the Dollars trilogy you find the plot probably within 5-15 minutes of the movie while in the OUAT movies you wait till the end to really understand everything (excluding DYS from this because I havent seen it yet). Why is this? Did something happen (creatively) to Leone between GBU and OUATITW?

Silenzio foolishly accepts the bait, oblivious to the fact that it will result in the inevitable "Too Slow."

Yes Yes your post is about 30 minutes late so it did end up with a Too Slow
