976  Films of Sergio Leone / Other Films / Re: Homosexual overtones on: May 05, 2007, 06:11:49 AM
I saw it, but a long time ago, and didn't remember the flashbacks, but yesterday I saw it again. In Italian language...  Grin It was a little funny...

James was soooo... Cry Cry Cry he's my favourite actor.
977  Films of Sergio Leone / Other Films / Re: The Great Silence aka Il grande silenzio (1968) on: May 03, 2007, 01:53:54 PM
I've seen it a few weeks ago. It's a masterpiece, for me, one of the best westerns, not only in the spaghetti sub-genre.

I love tragic-ending films  Cry Like the early Jean Gabin movies and Giu la testa. But this is much, much more tragic, and so COLD...

Poor Silenzio... poor Frank Wolff... poor Pauline...  Cry

But Tigrero is sooo great villain. Who said Frank's wrong? He's an angel...  Grin

Alternate ending? No, thanks.

What's the reason, that so many spaghetti western actors committed suicide?

I voted Pat Garett, but I can't decide between this, the Wild Bunch and Alfredo Garcia. They are by me 100%.

The Wild Bunch is for me as great as OUATITW or Il Grande Silenzio. I love every minutes in the film. But the best is:
- Let's go.
- Why not?
And they're goin' and then KILL KILL KILL, like a Manowar song...  Afro

Pat Garrett is an absolutely beutiful art-western. James Coburn should have won an Oscar fir this. And Kris is so lovely and he's not the idealized-romantic bandit. He's a killer, but he's cool. ("How's Jesus looking for you...")
All the supporting actors are great, and the movie has a wonderful athmosphere. And, of course, the music.

Alfredo Garcia is an absurd and morbid masterpiece. It's very, very Sam-ish.  Wink

But I like also Cable Hogue. Jason Robards is always excellent.

In Hungarian, it sounds: "Hasra, balfék!" that means re-translated cca.: "Down, you looser!" It had lost its "deeper" meaning...  Cry Grin

983  General Information / General Discussion / What about Bloody Sam? Did ya like him? on: May 01, 2007, 12:55:47 PM
Well, I like him very much. His style is different than Sergio's but he made wonderful westerns too...
