1  Other/Miscellaneous / Off-Topic Discussion / Re: Do American ever remember the loss and sacrifice of the Civil war... on: January 20, 2013, 04:58:46 AM
When I was a kid in the early 50's in my home town on Memorial Day (often called Decoration Day back then) they had a ceremony where they took
pictures of local vetrans. They would do the Korean war vets, then the WWII vets and so on. There were 2 vets from the Civil war. They had to be close
to 100 years old. My grandfather told me that they had lied about their age to get in the military.

"I feel it is Angel Eyes who looks the most tense of the three..."

He should be. His targets are farthest apart!  Wink

Sometimes you can do a search of a town on ebay and you will get some good, old postcards of the main street to look at.

Hmmmm. The first thing this commercial reminded me of is the street in the shelled out town where Blondie and Tuco kill Angle Eyes' men.

I was thinking it was released in the US around Christmas time '67. Wikipedia says December '67. I'm not for sure though.

I saw it when it first came out. I had seen FOD and FAFDM by then and was eagerly awating GBU. At our local theater they had a midnight sneak preview
for the first showing in our area. That's the one I saw and I wasn't dissapointed.

In For a Few Dollars More. This was a "B" movie which meant it played second at the drive in I was at. I had a date so I wasn't much interested in the movie
if you know what I mean. Then came the shootout with Eastwood and the 3 guys standing in the door of the saloon. I forgot the girl and watched the rest
of the movie. Been an Eastwood spaghetti western fan every since.

My sister lives at the base of Mt. Hood on the western side. I think they have a forest fire going out there now. Smiley

I believe I saw something that said the "Stevens Hacienda" had reverted to a pig barn which it was before it was made into a hacienda.

Sergio's imagination was right on for me at least! That's exactly what I thought the first time I saw that scene. Afro
