18  Films of Sergio Leone / Duck, You Sucker / Re: Tuco or Juan on: April 17, 2006, 10:42:08 AM
sorry guys, dont buy into this "steiger's shit accent adds to the film" school of thought. OTT personified, not Steiger's finest hour.

I think the point is that Wallach never really tries to do an authentic Mexican accent.
19  General Information / General Discussion / Re: sergio and food on: January 25, 2006, 07:47:11 PM
hi everyone been away for awhile just tryin 2 get back in the habit of posting again.

anyway, corbucci seems to have even more of an obsession with eating, as seen by Charlie, one of Loco's henchmen, in The Great Silence.
20  Films of Sergio Leone / Duck, You Sucker / Re: Villega's torture scene on: October 26, 2005, 06:03:34 PM
man, that would have been a long film in its uncut version with the final flashback and such scenes as these!! ive always thought its the one leone film that drags a bit, sacrreligious as that may be.
21  Films of Sergio Leone / The Good, The Bad and The Ugly / Why "Blondie" in GBU? on: October 06, 2005, 05:30:39 PM
hi again guys, just read on wikipedia that the reason why Tuco calls Clint 'Blondie' in GBU is because it is a Mexican nickname for a White American, something that i dont even think Frayling picks up on. This would serve to answer my long-held confusion regarding this, and also Angel-Eyes' order to his minions: "I want that blonde alive", he was couching it in those terms.
22  Films of Sergio Leone / The Good, The Bad and The Ugly / Re: Cinematographer Tonino Delli Colli, dies aged 81 on: September 17, 2005, 01:54:31 PM
ive been away for a while guys and though its not place to announce my return on such a sombre issue, i think it would sho neglect for me not to comment on the late, great Tonino Delli Colli.

Ive always maintained, though some vehemently disagree, that the primary genius in Leone's Westerns, was Leone himself, but that his direction was reliant on certain other contributors to work. I mean, without Morricone's music, or Delli Colli's cinematography, and to a lesser extent, Clint's acting, would his films had such resonance? I would say not.

Delli Colli had the talent to bring Leone's vision into being, and he was a great cinematographer and will be sorely missed. He also showed, on the OUATITW docs that he is also a funny man.
23  Films of Sergio Leone / Once Upon A Time In The West / Re: There were three men in her life. One to take her... one to love her... and on: June 11, 2005, 09:41:53 AM
lets not forget in their infinite wisdom the film company also thought Angel-Eyes was the Ugly and Tuco the Bad as well. They generally know jack all.
24  Other/Miscellaneous / Off-Topic Discussion / Re: JAMES GARNER.......... on: June 11, 2005, 09:38:20 AM
just watching support your local sheriff with garner and elam. seeing elam here makes u realise just how nasty he looks in OUATITW.
25  Other/Miscellaneous / Off-Topic Discussion / Re: Charlton Heston E-Mail! on: June 10, 2005, 06:32:39 PM
i like alot of his great roles but after bowling for columbine hes gone right down in my estimation. tho i do think moore was a bit harsh following him around his house.
26  Films of Sergio Leone / Once Upon A Time In The West / Re: Eastwood vs. Bronson on: June 10, 2005, 03:27:31 PM
as ive said b4 on a number of occasions i dont think eastwood would have been quite right for the part as u never know anything about his past in his roles whereas u do with harmonica. could he have played te 'tortured soul'. hard to see it.
27  Other/Miscellaneous / Off-Topic Discussion / Re: Sin City on: June 10, 2005, 03:22:26 PM

29  Films of Sergio Leone / The Good, The Bad and The Ugly / Re: Special Edition Restored Scenes on: May 16, 2005, 10:33:19 AM
i agree with general sibley, doesnt really make him The Bad if Leone includes that scene, it is a great scene tho, esp when the camera pans around him.
30  Films of Sergio Leone / Other Films / Re: The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (2007) on: May 13, 2005, 10:21:28 AM
ooh sorry dont agree there. alien is as powerful and it was then, its all about tension that film and its palpable, much better than the second one, its great, but its a shoot-em-up, alien was a horror film really
