The Good, The Bad and The Ugly / Re:Tuco in the gunshop

I'm just guessing here cause i have no idea about civil war guns... or guns in general... but i'd guess that there was such little discrepencies in the revolvers back in the civil war times that it probably worked... but thats just an uneducated guess

A Fistful of Dollars / Re:Realism: Is it Important?
« on: December 31, 2003, 04:27:59 PM »
the lack of realism is something i love about these westerns... that fact that there is never a bullet hole in anyone being shot until the scene cuts, if even then, is one thing i love about leones westerns... people just fly backwards... like in the flashback where indio shoots the guy who gave the watch to mortimers sister, he shoots him like 3 times yet no blood or bullet hole... as for the shooting accuracy, what would a western be if all the main characters weren't the best shooters ever... it's not like this is the matrix or anything... their not bending the laws of science... they're just making 1 in a million shots daily

yeah... i can buy any connection you wanna make between the three characters, or one... depending how you look at it, clint plays, but other than that forget it... there just is no connection, not that i can see anyway.

i do like the idea that the trilogy is three different legends about the man with no name though

For a Few Dollars More / Re:Favourite moments
« on: December 20, 2003, 11:14:42 AM »
My favorite moment is definitly in the begining when mortimer is running down that first bounty and he sees the guy climbing down the fire escape like balcony... mortimer walks downstairs takes out his rifle and shoots the horse down... when he could have easiily taken the guy out... then as the guy he's chasing is about to get in range to shoot mortimer he pulls out that extending handle for his pistol... I love that thing!

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly / Re:Big Themes

this idea of a theme never even crossed my mind... this movie just keeps getting better and better... what a way to look at it! This whole angel, man, devil idea is really interesting and as far as i know fits very well.

I may be relatively new to the spaghetti westerns but i've seen them enough times to realize that there is absolutely no connection between mortimer and angel eyes.  It's pointless to argue(although all very good points) his location, rank, age, and all that stuff because in my opinion anyway... it's very clear that all the movies are simply unnattached with generally the same actors, with eastwood being mainly the main character in all 3.

GBU can't reallly be a prequel to the first two movies because the triplet isn't exactly a traditional trilogy... as i understand the three movies are not connected in any way plot-wise... other than the re-occuring attitude and swagger of eastwoods character... joe in the first movie... manco in the second... and blondie in the third.
