1  Other/Miscellaneous / Off-Topic Discussion / New "Euro-Western"- Board on: June 10, 2004, 06:46:36 AM
There is a new board for 'Spaghetti-Westerns'/ Italo Westerns and other western movies from Europe for english speaking fans.

2  Films of Sergio Leone / Other Films / Re:your favorite John Ford's western? on: May 15, 2004, 05:25:23 AM
One of my favourite westerns at all is "Fort Apache" directed by John Ford. Uncut! 123 mins.
A very good movie with excellent Actors like Victor McLaglen, Ward Bond, John Wayne and Henry Fonda.
I love the first scene with that two stagecoach men. Men like make a good western. This movie starts, you see them and you have at the moment the right western feeling.

I like this idea, to use good tracks from movies again. Why not to use sth. again what's great?
I hope in the future I will hear more and more well known tracks in new movies. There should a few men more than Quentin Tarantino, who have that good ideas!
4  General Information / General Discussion / Re:Frank Wolff on: April 27, 2004, 08:37:03 AM
I'm also serching for movies (PAL, not NTSC!) and fotos of Frank Wolff. This two lists:
include a few fotos of him, all taken from movies, which you needn't link. I'm especially interested in fotos which aren't taken from movies, if somebody has and can link it here or send it to me in an e-mail. But I'm also searching for other fotos (taken from movies).

What do you mean?  Huh
6  General Information / General Discussion / Re:Frank Wolff on: April 17, 2004, 06:13:01 AM
I wasn't sure, but now I am. I remember to have read an article, where was described, that Edward G. Robinson was that, (because I see now, that both topics are connected) what is called "blacklisted". Am I right?

Thank you  Cheesy!
Unfortunately I already read the "Brett McBain"-Thread...
I'm searching for more information.

We discussed what "blacklisted" means. Does it mean, that you aren't alowed to make movies in the USA or does it 'only' mean, that the producers or directors aren't interested in some actors, because they don't need them for their films. What are the reasons for being "blacklisted" and what is it?

What I know is, that Frank Wolff made movies in the US. Mostly he worked in Italy but he was active in US-Productions until the 70s/ until his death.

I would call Jason Robards' performance good and solid but not extraordinary and maybe that's the problem because "Once upon a time in west" is an extraordinary movie and an extraordinary movie needes extraordinary characters, especially if it is 3 hours long. Only Harmonica on the one hand and Frank on the other hand..., that isn't enough!
Claudia Cardinale does her best, but her performance is only a bit extraordinary because women never had a characterization in westerns like her before. Her part is a new part, not known before but not breathtaking.
In my opinion "Once upon a time in west" needs 1 or 2 extraordinary characters more. So it isn't one of my favourite movies, because it's too long for only 2 interesting main characters.

I hope you will understand my English a bit, because I haven't often used this language.   Lips Sealed
I'll do my very best!

I collect any kind of information about Frank Wolff. It's difficult to find information about him, I do already know a bit about him, his suicide, what he studied, movies with him, and a little bit about the person Frank Wolff, how he is described. Please post everything you know about him!

Thank you!
