Just a quicky! I was lucky enough this year to get a ticket to ENNIO MORRICONE'S concert at the ROYAL ALBERT HALL in London. He was MAGNIFICENT! What a joy! He conducted a full stage of players thru, all the spaghetti's and ONCE UPON A TIME IN AMERICA, CINEMA PARADISO and many, many more! Pure heaven! Smiley

Question to all: are these the only two Irish locations used in AFOD? And where exactly are the Wicklow mountains?
Hi ya. So far as I know, these were the only two locations used in the movie. Wicklow mountains are on the outskirts of Dublin City and house, what at one stage was one of the largest purpose built film studio's in Europe, ARDMORE. Films, or part of films shot there include, THE QUIET MAN, THE BLUE MAX, ZARDOZ, BRAVEHEART, SAVING PRIVATE RYAN. etc. One of FRANCIS FORD COPPOLA'S first movies, DEMENTIA 13 (aka THE HAUNTED AND THE HUNTED 1963) was also shot there. Coppola so loved the place that he wanted to buy it at one stage. JOHN BOORMAN, was head of the studio for a period in the 70's and shot his EXCALIBUR there and the surrounding countryside. If you ever get to visit, I recommend a pub called JOHNNY FOX's, not far from the studio. A favorite haunt of BURT LANCASTER, KIRK DOUGLAS, FRANK SINATRA and ROBERT MITCHUM while they worked on JOHN HUSTON'S THE LIST OF ADRIAN MESSENGER. The only thing to have changed in the pub in all these years is.....the price of the drink!!!! Cry

Would love to, but would need several scoops of Guinness to get in mood! Wink

Hi folks! Am delighted to have been accepted as member of LEONE site. I find myself in a happy situation, mainly because I can share some personal info in regards to the MAN himself. Many years back, I was lucky enough to meet SERGIO and JAMES COBURN. I was a young teenager, in DUBLIN, when  my uncle (a taxi-driver) got the job of driving SERGIO and JAMES from hotel to film site(s), mainly TONERS BAR in Baggot Street (famous shoot-out in slo-mo) and the driving sequence in the Wicklow mountains, during a filmed segment for A FISTFUL OF DYNAMITE! I was invited by my aunty (wife of driver) to a Sunday dinner where I was gobsmacked to see first JAMES COBURN, who I instantly reconised as the knife thrower from THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN, and then a very rotund non-Engilsh speaking Italian, I hadn't a clue to his importance, of course, as I learned during the dinner, was the man responible for my favorite movies THE DOLLARS TRILOGY! Mr. Coburn spoke at lenght about martial arts, in particular about a teacher of his back in the USA. This teacher was, and at the time I had no clue to his status, but a couple of years later was to find this man to be Mr. Bruce Lee! The upshot of all this is, I stood outside of TONERS BAR as they shot the sequence. After which, I had two more meetings with LEONE AND COBURN. My aunty, took several rolls of film, all lost during the passing years to my great regret. If any of you find yourselves in DUBLIN, TONERS of BAGGOT STREET is still standing and more importantly, one of the barmen used in the shoot is still standing! He will regale you with many stories as you sip on copious pints of the black stuff! I feel very lucky to have met, not just JAMES COBURN Smiley, but an incredilbe group of stage hands, stunt men, story tellers and, in the end, SERGIO LEONE!
