Dear Amigos,

I am back after two months of being away.  I have not had email access and I have really missed you guys. I know this has nothing to do with SW's but I just wanted to say HOLA!

17  Films of Sergio Leone / A Fistful of Dollars / Re:Man on Ass significance on: January 02, 2003, 12:42:10 PM

i'm glad someone doesn't think that dude is dead or at least things there may be some other explination. i think i need to get by butt in gear and watch YOJIMBO because several of you more versed filmgoes reference it constantly.

i too rewatched this scene just two days ago and honestly, i don't see how that guy could be dead. anyway, thanks for helping me not to feel so crazy...
18  General Information / Trivia Games / Re:when were they invented? on: January 02, 2003, 12:35:49 PM

i guess you were the only one who enjoyed this question. the dates, due to proper documentation, are a bit fuzzy but i went to several patent sites and i think those dates seem to be the most quoted. you did a great job. you get a fist full of dollars (if only in spirit).

20  General Information / General Discussion / Re:Do women love Leone too on: January 02, 2003, 12:21:18 PM
in all fairness to the ladies...i have met a few young gals on the web who are huge fans of leone (especially the sw). i spent six weeks chatting with a girl regarding leone via a chat room. it wasn't until she mentioned something about her BOYFRIEND that i began to wonder if she was man or woman. she told me she was not gay but a female. i was impressed with her passion for leone... too bad she doesn't live in california...
21  Films of Sergio Leone / Once Upon A Time In The West / Re:leone breaks a classic western rule... on: December 27, 2002, 09:44:51 PM
curious... i personally like that he gets shot. it breaks the myth of the untouchable gunfighter and makes things so much more intense.

i love that song. it really pulls on the heart strings.
23  Films of Sergio Leone / The Good, The Bad and The Ugly / Re:why does Blondie keep tuco alive? on: December 27, 2002, 09:40:57 PM
also, remember the exchange between tuco and blondie (after they reunite and angel eyes and his boys are waiting for them). tuco at first is happy that he want's to be HIS partner (like eastwood ever needed a partner) but then eastwood explains that angel eyes is not alone. tuco realizes it isn't his friendship but the alliance he needs. the man with no name only likes tuco more simply because he can better anticipate how he thinks. i think that is the main reason for eastwoods behavior.
24  Films of Sergio Leone / The Good, The Bad and The Ugly / Re:THE PONCHO... on: December 27, 2002, 09:33:10 PM
yeah but you have to think about it this way... could blondie ever settle down? come on, you know he couldn't. after six months with a spread and a little juanita (no matter how beautiful) would have to pack up and leave. for him it is the thrill of the gun fight, out smarting the tucos and spending the money quickly.

just a thought!

thanks sir renny!
26  General Information / General Discussion / Re:is there continuity in the first three movies on: December 27, 2002, 09:23:08 PM
that is what is so difficult and fun, i might add, about leone. he made film like a boy plays cowboys and indians. yes it is important to have a level of belief (i.e. cap guns, hat, boots, etc.) but certain details one can suspend. i think leone liked to play and even play his audience. i think there has to be some relationship but as of now i am still trying to figure it out. as some have mentioned (i asked a similar question) the chronology between the three and when they were made do not match, due to certain items used in the films and their date of invention. although, one could argue that leone did not concern himself with these details. i must say, i think i agree with some of the gents that feel GBU took place first simply due to the fact that at the end of the film eastwood picked up the poncho at the end of the film and did not have it with him at the beginning.
27  General Information / General Discussion / Re:Did Leone kill the western with kindness? on: December 27, 2002, 09:16:01 PM
Wayne is not all bad but i will say much of it is crap. i think the searches is great and even stagecoach. i think Leone created a new reality to the western. one that could still work today. i wish he could have made just a few more films. hey, that sounds like a title, "JUST A FEW MORE FILMS."
28  General Information / General Discussion / Re:Native Americans on: December 27, 2002, 09:11:53 PM
ABC, like all networks, are driven not by morality rather money. the only reason they took that scene out was to protect their image. i am not sure this is the most effective way to deal with the film. i have the greatest respect for native americans and i was not offended by this scene. racism was is and will be real in our nation (US of A) and for that matter the world. showing that film as is only helps us see how we need to do better and that we have made some progress... just my opinion...
29  Films of Sergio Leone / For a Few Dollars More / Re:A question of sound on: December 26, 2002, 10:07:43 PM
i'll watch it tonight. i seem to remember something but can't remember it in detail.
30  Films of Sergio Leone / A Fistful of Dollars / Re:Why? on: December 26, 2002, 10:06:07 PM
it was a facade so they couldn't go out the back or it would ruin it for his audience (we would see it wasn't a really house and it was all make believe)... [this is intended as a joke-hee hee].
i have had the same question...and i don't have a very good answer other than, did you ever play cowboys and indians as a child (i did )? when you were making your last stand no matter how audacious, did you ever coward and ran out the back, all the way home to mommy. of course not because you knew even if you were to be slaughtered there was always tomorrow to get your vengence. leone loved playing cowboys and indians and would it be any fun to have his action figures run out the back? that is the best i can do!
