121  Films of Sergio Leone / Once Upon A Time In America / Re: I didn't like this movie on: December 19, 2005, 03:07:07 PM
Movies are not made to make you feel comfortable. Through the "brutal rape" scene  Leone decided to show the reaction of a man who just lost illusions unfairly. Life is not always blue like the sky. Sergio Leone cinema is constantly showing this, sometimes brutally. If you don't want to be upset, just watch Dysney stuff.

I do think that  the genre of the movie is not really important. What is important is how the film is done, how the actors are involved in it, the scenario, etc.
A great movie is a great movie: western, science fiction, comedy, tragedy we don't care. We want art and quality or at least total involvement and dedication if the director is not a genious like sergio.

Leonardo: if I get in touch with Sir Frayling I let you know. Hope one day I will be able to eat spaghetti with you, chatting about sergio cinema.

I think it is indeed a good idea to set this dual up. However, I do not want to deceive you, but I think Trinita is the fastest for ever!

that is a good idea. I will try to convince him or people round him to help us in this quest. I will let you know the results of my enquiries. Thanx for welcoming me on this chat.

Hope I will be able to make it as well but I'll try anyway to organise something in the uk, not comparable to what's happening in the usa but with the spirit! I guess there are a lot of books about Sergio but I found one interesting, you probably know, called conversation with sergio leone by Noel Simsolo: Leone's spirit and anecdots about his films are reported as a conversation and I found out so many interesting things!
have you heard about it?
126  Films of Sergio Leone / Once Upon A Time In The West / Re: Pure Beauty************ on: December 13, 2005, 01:55:09 PM
What a pure BEAUTY Claudia Cardinale was in this awesome movie. I give her and the movie a 10 out of 10!

Italian women like her, Monica Belducci, Alyssa Milano, Sophia Loren, etc. are just ungodly beautiful in my opinion.

I attended an exhibition about Italian cinema and I got a book with all of those beauties. I think the way they were dressed was important as well. I like watching women dressed like...women! We could ad some other actresses on that list like brigitte Bardot Leone noticed and promoted at the beginining of her career.

Ok I have not been so active for the moment but Sergio is my favourite director anyway for ever and ever. First thing I'd like to clear : do not pronounce spaghetti with me talking about him. I do like spaghetti but not as an adjective to qualify Sergio cinema. This term was invented by journalists unable to qualify correctly something too deep for them:Leone passion for life and movies. Secondly I am in the uk for the moment and I'd really like that people from uk who consider Leone as one of the best directors to join somewhere with this goal:to organise something about him. I probably won't be able to attend the exhibition that takes place in the usa, so why not trying to do something here. Let's get in touch.
