Correlation is not causation. Those who go after the gold are already in high risk occupations (soldiers and bounty hunters). They are likely to die early regardless. For whatever reason, illicit fortunes do not attract people from safer occupations (merchants, insurance adjusters, Leone Board posters).
Blondie /Manco is is in a high risk occupation you either win and survive or you are dead ...Thats why they get the money that most people would take at least 3 years to earn (fOR A FEW DOLLARS MORE )

Perhaps she meant pious as humanistic in nature rather than the classic meaning of the word. Though that is probably too deep.

Who cares ?...The fact of the matter is the film has stood the test of time and is a now a Classic .So what does it matter what some overpaid critic who gves an arty farty opinion of it ?...........I care not one jot !

(1/25/68) dubbed it The Burn, The Gouge and The Mangle and called it "the most expensive, pious and repellent movie in the history of its peculiar genre."

Lets be reasonable about this......What does she know ?..shes a woman (I think)
20  Films of Sergio Leone / Once Upon A Time In The West / Re: Casting of Frank on: October 19, 2011, 12:41:56 PM
Yes revenge is the wrong word.......but its funny how all the big stars come knocking when Leone became a name where as before that the scripts were regarded as beneth them........and not given a second glance
21  Films of Sergio Leone / Once Upon A Time In The West / Casting of Frank on: October 19, 2011, 07:32:29 AM
I cant help wondering if casting  Henry Fonda as Frank was a little bit of revenge for Fonda turning him down as The man with no name in Leone's early days.
When Leone was almost unknown Bronson,Fonda and Coburn all rejected scripts........When he became well known they all appeared in his films.........And what about Steiger ?.....a rip off of Tuco !

24  Films of Sergio Leone / The Good, The Bad and The Ugly / Re: Why didn't Tuco kill Blondie? on: October 01, 2011, 01:03:08 PM
Hello friends, am new to the forum. Don't know if the question has already been posed, but this is it: After Tuco and Blondie barter their half of the secret, why didn't Tuco kill Blondie afterwards? Going by his goofy nature, he would have believed Blondie must've told him the truth and killed him. There were two main opportunities - while crossing the river and while Blondie was tending to the dying Confederate soldier. This has always perplexed me. Huh
Tuco mellows and warms to Blondie as the film progresses.........Thats why towards the end we see Tuco change from cold blooded killer at beginning of film to Likeable clown, unlike Angel Eyes who is pure evil throughout the film........Thats what makes it so entertaining.Tuco is the only one who gives a motive for his actions to his brother........Moral story......not actions of a Psyco killer.

After crossing crossing the river you would have thought Tuco would have tested his pistol to make sure it worked even though he protected it .........Guns and water dont mix ......and being a seasoned gunman would have checked working of gun after crossing.........If he had he would have found it unloaded.

Are there any videos , maybe on You Tube perhaps, that lets you here how an actual gunshot from a real  gun actually sounds. Maybe there is a comparison video or audio recording comparing the real version against the cinema version.

I have never heard a "real" gun go off ever in real life, except on news programs pehaps...but not close up, so I have no conception as to how loud they are or the power they generate...only the "Crack crack" and not the "boom Boom" you here on the cinema.

ICE

I have shot a number of Blackpowder Revolvers after loading which takes a couple of minutes shooting is done in about 15 secs............Loud deep boom, lots of smoke and feels you have small  cannon in hand......
