Ever notice how there's a Bronson reference in almost all of Tarantino's films?

I've never noticed anything, but this sounds interesting. Can you give us some examples?

I've watched Jackie Brown twice, and to be honest, the 1st time I saw I thought it was pretty good. The 2nd time however, I got so bored that I had to turn it off. I don't know what it was, or why I found it so boring, but I just couldn't  watch any more.
The only other film that I can recall switching off through boredom was The Day After Tomorrow, though that was perhaps a mixture of hatred and boredom.

I always liked Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction, but I don't think he has done anything of note since then.

Does anyone know if there was ever a hardback version of Frayling's "Something To Do With Death" book?

That's great guys, thanks for replying. Now I want to hear what these original sounds are like though, as the first time I saw GBU was when the R2 special edition came out. If someone has a copy on DVD, and is able to do so, they could upload a few mp3s of particular gunshots from the original movie, and I'll do the same from the special edition DVD and then people can compare them. Any takers?

Bump! Can anyone shed any light on this for me?

Seeing as we've had no votes for some time, I've decided to lock the voting. So now it's official, they are both equally amazing  Grin

Good question.  And how much would that amount in gold have weighed?  Gold the size of those sacks would be very heavy (gold is 19.3 times as dense as water). One thing I always like since I first saw it in 1968 was that the sacks were really filled with something heavy (such as rocks) so it looked realistic when Blondie hoisted them onto the horse (can see that the horse definitely notices the weight).  One can often tell by the actors' motions that they're not exerting themselves or struggling to lift things in film and TV.  Too many directors use lightweight stuff as props (fake boulders, newspapers stuffed in bags), and it can look quite hokey.  So chalk up another reality bit for Sergio.  And didn't I see a photo where Alberto Grimaldi had the "gold coins" made into a fountain or something?

Have you ever seen the scene in The Great Silence where I think the Sheriff is drinking a cup of something, but it's so blantantly empty that's it's almost funny. I know it was a very small budget but surely water isn't that expensive!

11  General Information / General Discussion / Original mono soundtrack??? on: May 16, 2005, 04:02:23 AM
Hi,
I've noticed people on this board and elsewhere complain that a DVD doesn't have the original mono soundtrack, particularly with region 2 DVDs. I'm not sure if I've missed something here, but among the Leone westerns and any other films, I hate getting the original mono soundtracks, I love it when an old film gets remixed into 5.1. So my questions are thus; what is the deal with original mono soundtracks? Who prefers them and why? What am I missing here?  Tongue
Thanks in advance.

As far as  I know, just the extended flashback sequence is new.
13  Films of Sergio Leone / The Colossus of Rhodes / Re: Colossus of Rhodes on: April 25, 2005, 02:46:50 PM
Hi,
Sorry for the over-dramatic subject. I really want to see this film, for completeness sake if nothing else. However, I cannot track down a copy ANYWHERE for love nor money. If anyone knows where to get a region 2 DVD or anything else, please let me know.
Thanks in advance.

Yeah I sent off for mine the other day, can't wait to get them! Any idea how long they're supposed to take? These things have a habit of taking weeks and weeks to materialise.

Looks like GBU has taken the lead once more! I think I'll have to decide upon a cut off point, like first to 25 votes, or maybe whoever has the most at the end of May.
