Going through a The Who phase at present.Quadrophenia has for along time been  my favourite rock album but i'm starting to believe Who's Next  is as good.Either way on every count with their supreme muscianship, charisma, chemistry, stage presence, songwriting, inventiveness  and pure energy they were untouchable in the early 1970's and at that time completely blew away any other  heavy rock/metal band (or otherwise) out of the water.Anyway here's YOUNG MANS BLUES from the Isle Of Wight set,one of many songs that's stuck in my brain at the moment.Who can seriously touch them for excitement here?

The Kevin Grant book is excellent.I bought it at the book launch in London a couple of months back and got it signed by Grant as well as Franco Nero who wrote the foreword. Wink

Our cover of the wonderful Martha Tilston's RED performed at the blessing of the restored Eastbourne Holywell spring that we dug out (again) following a storm last November.

A bit lower than I pitched it. But I admit I don't feel the need to ever see it again.

Maybe i was a bit mean and perhaps it deserves a 5 out of 10.

I agree with Groggy that the dialogue was cringeworthy and Caesar's deep voice ("i am home") just doesn't work. With all the other apes presumably speaking i think the expected sequel will be very dreadful indeed.

I didn't like Tim Butons film much either but at least the ape characters (Tim Roth etc) worked quite well.I think Andy Serkis should maybe stick to just playing Gollum in the hobbit films.

RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES

A loose remake of the far superior CONQUEST OF THE PLANET OF THE APES.I liked the basic plot of the miracle alzeimer curing drug being given to the apes turning them to super intelligent but unfortunately to make up for the lack of a charismatic ape lead to rival Roddy McDowall's Caeser in the original (the rest of the cast are dull too) we are bogged down throughout by a tedious CGI fest. Not to mention the complete absense of the clever satire of the older films.

Not even the odd (mainly crap) reference to the original series saves this from being a very disappointing 3 out of 10.

I hadn't heard that song but i like it very much thanks.

I sing folk songs basically. The miserable songs are the best i think and these do tend to be slow ones.

Well at least we've given Rudra a couple of leads where he can get hold of this film.  Smiley

but also very expensive.

Exactly. Roll Eyes

The Culttzine site has caused much controversy on that spaghetti western site as it seems that the sources aren't exactly  legit. But who really cares if they can deliver on excellent quality if the legit releaes don't.Here's a review of the Cultzine release of Face To Face which apparently is superior to the Japanese SPO disc(i own this and the English audio is dreadful).

To clarify, the project that FC was talking about further up the thread is something else entirely. Nero isn't involved in this one.
Sorry Groggy but hearing straight from the horse's mouth last weekend it seems that Franco Nero will most probably be involved in this one assuming that it's not just all talk Cheesy
