Coinciding with the "Worst Film" post, I thought I should start a similar one. This time, let us look at Morricone's filmography. He has scored an impressive amount of films, and not all of them are of Leone quality. Which one is the worst? My pick would be Mission To Mars. I like the score, I really like DePalma, but this film is dreadful.

I've never seen it myself, but judging by reputation, it would seem to be "Exorcist II".  Shocked

EXORCIST II is pretty bad, but I think I'd go with his ORCA, his follow-up to EXORCIST II, as the wort film he worked on (but I'm sure there are some awful Italian productions he's worked on that I'm haven't seen).

I have near 80 cd of Morricone.

In almost all of them there are some very bad tunes, but in almost all of them you have at least one amazing tune.

I think his worst scores are those who are repetitive and havent even one good tune, and I can name some...

Anyway one of my last purchases is the socre from a BBC production, "Nostromo", inspired by the Joseph Conrad book. Well, this score is outstanding.

that film with arnie and brigitte nielson: i think its called Red Sonja. Sub-standard Morricone score as well - for once.

I can't pick the worst film since there are so many Italian films I've never seen but 'Senso 45' was pretty bad even though music is still great.

For me, the worst Morricone's score is MIssion to Mars, as if, scuse me, I like the movie (I'm a big big fan of Science Fiction).
Recently, I buy a Morricone Best of, but the songs were remasterised (?), and it was not write on the jacket; it's horrible: the music is made with good instrument, such as when you listen a right Morricone song, the sound is not beautifull, and it's that which make that Morricone is great. But in these CD, the Morricone atmosphere is not here, and it is...it is...it is bad!!! Angry Angry Angry Angry

Red Sonja-hands down. I know it stinks, but I liked Orca. I saw it when I was like 7, so it has that was cool when I was a kid appeal.

The title of the compilation is:
"Ennio Morricone The Soundtracks" in Déjà vu Retro Gold Collection.
Inside, there is a booklet (it is written on the jacket) with photos and citations...

I have seen it, and both the film and the music are f'ing terrible.  Avoid, avoid, avoid.

Didn't Morricone score that religious film about the Irish Cardinal ... what was it again ... The Scarlet and the Black? Well, Morricone is great, but the soundtrack on that film was not what I expected. Granted, I did watch it on a laptop computer with pretty bad speakers, but I thought the score was just too sharp, too extreme, and not well matched to the movie at all.
