Ok, this is really vague so I know it's a long shot.
Years ago after watching TGTB&TU I hired a western that starred LVC from the local video shop (those were the days) based purely on the fact that he was the main star.
I was disappointed with the film because I thought that it was going to be like TGTB&TU (I was only about 10) but I thought it was OK.

I really would like to nail down the title of the film to see if I can track it down online and watch it again.
I have watched many of the clips on youtube of films that LVC was in from the period after TGTB&TU when he became quite famous but I don't think I have found it.

The only thing that I can describe about it was the leitmotif used when he came onto the screen or did something and smiled. It was a bit like a jews harp and made a twanging sound (I know that sounds like FAFDM by I really don't mean that). The years really have faded my memory unfortunately.

Now, I know the smart arse here could say that the desription given could cover almost every Western that he was in but I reckon one of you will know the film I mean.

It may also have starred a red Indian in another leading role and I think LVC may have had longer hair.

Any ideas?

I have not (yet!) seen any of LVC's post-GBU films, so I am sure the other board members can help you out here more than I can. But in the meantime, maybe it would help to look through his filmography? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lee_Van_Cleef#Filmography

Sabata ?  Sabata's entourage inlcuded a fat bum and an Indian acrobat who could not speak.

Van Cleef films I liked included Big Gundown, Death Rides a Horse, Day of Anger.

His best in my opinion after his collaborations with Leone are:

a tie between

The Big Gundown
Death Rides a Horse

then:

Day Of Anger (Almeria sets are great then it seems as if they ran out of budget money at the end of this one)
El Condor (good one where he plays against type)

then the rest which I personally don't care for for various different reasons:

The Grand Duel ( middling but with a great score used recently in "Kill Bill")
the Sabatta's (sort of a Wild Wild West)
Beyond the Law (eh)
Take a Hard Ride (seen only parts)
Gods Gun (not seen)

and another that's almost a musical that I can't remember the name of....

His only post Leone American Western that I think is pretty good is Barquero (with Warren Oates & Forrest Tucker)

I find it very hard to get the Spaghetti Westerns. I am only interested in American dvd's (I only speak English, and I'm not gonna start messing around with buying Italian dvd's, getting a  different dvd player, etc). I have been looking for The Big Gundown for a while and can't find it anywhere. Sure, they have these dvd's of like "20 Spaghetti Westerns," but when you have to package together 20 of something, they usually ain't good. The specific Spaghetti Westerns frequently mentioned on this board, which I have meant to see for a while, are often very hard to find  Sad

Here is a cheap starter set:

http://cinemaraiders.blogspot.com/2011/05/best-of-spaghetti-westerns.html

Don't know how legal it is, but it is good mixture in good quality of SWs beyond Leone and Corbucci. Some classics amongst them, some turkeys too, but most of them have their defenders amongst SW fans.

Despite what the writer assumes, I think most (if not all) are uncut.

Thanks. I just wonder if these sites are shady, how safe it is to use my credit card there, etc.

Also, are these dvd's dubbed into English? I don't understand any other language (and I don't really like watching with subtitles...)
