http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0058507/

just saw The Quick Gun (1964) with Audie Murphy. 6/10

Directed by Sidney Salkow.

Pretty much an average American Western from the period. I still don't see why Audie Murphy was such a popular actor...

Some dude named Ted de Corsia plays the main villain, named "Spangler"; he may be the single most annoying villain in the history of Westerns

Cast (courtesy of imdb)

Audie Murphy    ...   Clint Cooper
    Merry Anders    ...   Helen Reed
James Best    ...   Sheriff Scotty Wade
Ted de Corsia    ...   Jud Spangler
    Walter Sande    ...   Tom Morrison
    Rex Holman    ...   Rick Morrison
    Charles Meredith    ...   Rev. Staley
    Frank Ferguson    ...   Dan Evans
    Mort Mills    ...   Cagle
    Gregg Palmer    ...   Donovan
    Frank Gerstle    ...   George Keely
    Stephen Roberts    ...   Dr. Stevens
    Paul Bryar    ...   Mitchell
    Raymond Hatton    ...   Elderly Man
    William Fawcett    ...   Mike

Ted De Cosrsia...omg

It is hard to believe Hollywood ws still making such crappy Westerns like this as late as 1964
Fortunately, an unknown Italian director and American cowboy were about to change things

Compared to the ultra-crappy westerns the European, made in 1964, this one is, without knowing it, probably not the worst of the year.

Haha i guess I didn't know Ted de Corsia when I first wrote this review  :o

But he does play a really annoying character here.

Anyway, I saw like three Audie Murphy Westerns a while ago but no more. The man was a great soldier and hero and perhaps had a face the girls die for but not a great actor.

Yes, he wasn't an actor, and despite being a hero, he doesn't look like one. In most of his western roles he was miscast only due to his looks. Still he made a bunch of good westerns next to many mediocre ones. But in most of his good ones I wished they had chosen someone else.

I am an Audie Murphy fan. He actually made some very enjoyable westerns for Universal in the 50's. This is not one of them .
CHeck out the awful fight scenes that use a stunt double who looks nothing like Murphy! Really embarrasing
