About a year and a half.
I messaged a couple for friends on other forums who are inactive members here and asked them to contact the mod on my behalf. They did so, but it didn't help. When I asked why they were inactive they said they got tired of being told off and sniped at all the time so they stopped participating.  It wouldn't hurt some of you to lighten up.

I happen to agree at the sniping part. I mean, this is all good fun to me, all kidding around. I love this forum, and find it to generally be a friendly and informative place.

But if you had to wait a year and a half to be approved that's crazy

UPDATE:

Cal says it is very important for all new signups to follow the signup instructions PRECISELY, which includes emailing the Admin. your login info exactly as it says, then you will be approved.

Since this board gets so much spam, it is important that instructions are followed precisely to weed out the bad guys. Unfortunately, most new signups do not follow instructions properly -- either out of ignorance, or cuz they are spammers.

But if instructions are followed properly, then signups should be approved pretty quickly
