Takin the walk of shame through Times Sq. (actually, is it the walk of shame if you take it together and from neutral territory (e.g. A hotel?)) still some Seattle fans eating in restaurants on their way out. Snowing like mad, all the sports networks are packing up their gear, all full of snow. Unbelievable, God held up the snow for the Super Bowl :-) ....
I am glad the weather for the game turned out nice. Maybe that'll increase the chances that we get another Super Bowl in NY/NJ soon. I think it turned out successful.... And sure was a helluva lotta fun for us (despite the game being so lopsided)!

Are you kidding, football, with mother nature providing the unknown factor is a great watch.  I was hoping for snow and bone chilling temps.

I agree that it's more fun to watch football with crazy weather, and I'd have loved to see the game in the snow. But I think the NFL was happy with having mild weather - and I want to have another Super Bowl here in NY/NJ. Not just a one-time thing, but that NY/NJ should be one of the cities that frequently host a Super Bowl. And IMO, having the mild weather for the game may have improved the chances that we get another one. So, I'm glad that for this game, the weather was nice.

weird that it peaked at end of 3rd quarter - by that time, the game was already a blowout. My friend and I (rooting for Denver) actually contemplated leaving the bar and going home at halftime. Needless to say, by the end of the night, I was glad I hadn't....

Most watched in sheer numbers, but not quite as big a percentage as the Beatles on Ed Sullivan.  The Super Bowl hit a bit over 35% of the current population, the Fab Four came closer to 39%.  There'll be plenty about this all week, of course, as we reach the 50th anniversary of the original moptops broadcast.

this article says the Super Bowl had a "46.7 rating among households and a 69 share." I assume the "69 share" means that 69% of people watching TV at the time were watching the Super Bowl, but then what is the rating? I mean, what's the difference between rating and share?

IMO, the halftime show and the national anthem are a friggin joke, cuz of how much of it is actually not even played live. Awful. (The famous Whitney Houston national anthem in Super Bowl XXV was friggin lip-synched too.) I understand that the NFL makes national athem singers pre-record just in case there is an issue with the mics; but the singer has the option of whether to use the recording or go live.
And btw, I was at the outdoor hockey game at Yankee Stadium on 1/29/14, and I recently watched the game on my dvr. Michelle Williams "sang" the national anthem - what you couldn't tell live, but could see on tv, was that it was actually pre-recorded. Cuz when the TV broadcasters introduced the PA announcer, who introduced Williams, they started playing the recording too early on TV! Then they stopped it and started it again! So it was obviously recorded.

IMO, if you're not gonna do it live, then it's bullshit.

But I never watch that crap anyway, so who cares

Thursday was the last night that Jay Leno hosted The Tonight Show. I was a huge fan of his and watched virtually all his shows when i was a teen; I didn't have cable and i watched him every single nite. In the past few years, once I got cable, my TV was never tuned to the network channels, so I sorta kept forgetting to watch, and I didn't see very many of his shows the last few years. But I watched the full show last nite (ironic- i've never before seen a full show of his cuz i never like ALL the guests on any given nite. But last nite, I watched the full show - Billy Crystal (Jay's very first guest in 1992) and Garth Brooks were guests, and many many many more celebrities came by to surprise him and wish him well, in person and on video. (the staff arranged most of the show as a surprise, so that other than Crystal and  Brooks, Jay didn't know who would be showing up.)... Once upon a time, the highlight of my life was Jay's opening monologue every nite (yes, DJ - COMEDY!), and it was great to see one last one.... In the final send-off, Jay was absolutely crying like a baby, he couldn't even get the words out. Then he tossed it to Garth Brooks for one more song, and as the show ended, he looked into the camera and said (paraphrased), "I'm coming home, baby."...... In the past, Jay has said he has never touched a penny of his Tonight Show money; he only spends the money he's made as a stand-up comedian. (btw, Jay is one of those comedians who loves to perform; often, after leaving a Tonight Show taping, he will fly out to e.g., a casino in Nevada and do a show) and he and his wife never wanted kids, so the dude is sitting on I have no idea how many hundreds of millions of dollars (and cars), he'll never have to work a day in his life. But no doubt he will... I met him once, at an autograph signing at a Barned and Noble in Manhattan, when he was selling a new book. He is a great great guy. I'll miss his show, but hope to see him performing....
