OH SH*T!

« #120 : January 10, 2007, 05:07:24 PM »

Okay.

I heard of Killer Kid before but I always get it confused with Kid Vengeance.

I never saw Killer Kid, but the latter film I can say from viewing experience is a piece of crap.

I collect basically different movies from the other collectors here as I look for italian versions of them and only if I can't find them I turn towards foreign ones. So I don't think I belong in this thread.  I must also confess that I was driven towards starting collecting SW by being member of this forum. So it is a quite recent thing. The mark towards which I'm heading is still a long way from being reached, I doubt I'll ever will and, anyway, that is far in the future.

Are you (like Firecracker) intending to obtain EVERY sw ever made?I'm not sure i am because i'm now at the point where diminishing returns are beginning to set in and i'm seeing much more bad films than good, but Johnny Hamlet was a very pleasant surprise the other day so i guess there may still be some gems lurking ::) but the words "needle" and "haystack" do come to mind.

The fact is that, in my book, most of movies (especially genre movies) are "bad". I collect SW for sentimental reasons, not for aesthetic ones. That being the case, even the worst of the crop can have elements of interest (an actor I used to like or a gimmick - something you usually could find even in the worst of italian westerns because that was expected from them. Anyway, the goal of watching "every" SW ever produced is at the moment quite illusory as there are a dozen of them that SW researchers do not even know if they were ever actually released theatrically and copies of them are unobtainable even at the italian state institutions (there are two of them) where by law a copy of every movie to be shown in the theatres has to be deposited.

I listed those that I own currently, I did sell Navajo Joe to the g_c I think it was (correct me if I'm wrong) and gave away Aces High to Kermit/Cisco.  :)

I've seen Sabata, Deaf Smith & Johnny Ears,

not to sound ungrateful(because i'm lucky to have it) but I had been wondering lately where the hell i got navajo joe, that was me you sold it to... I'd just forgotten where i'd gotten it.

I'm hijacking this thread and taking it as a thread where i can keep track of every spag I've ever seen and also my own personal SW review thread.

Using Marco Leone's scale: **** = Must View *** = Recommended ** = Watch if bored and * = Avoid.

The ones that i own are in bold

OUATITW *****
GBU *****
FOD ***
FAFDM ****
DYS
*****
Death Rides a Horse *** (will watch in Widescreen soon)
A Bullet for The General ***
Keoma ***
Four of the Apocalypse *
Texas Adios **
The Mercenary ****
The Great Silence ****
Django ****
The Big Gundown ****
The Hellbenders
****
My Name is Nobody *** 1/2
Ace High ** 1/2
They Call Me Trinity ***
Trinity is Still My Name **
Mannaja: A Man Called Blade ***
Face to Face ****
Cemetery Without Crosses
****
Compañeros ****
Django The Bastard ***
W Django * 1/2
Sabata *** 1/2

My buddy burned a copy of Django, Kill... If You Live, Shoot! for me. I'm giving it two stars for now... review to follow. Repeat viewings could raise or lower the score.

Haha, what more than "must view" is possible, that you mark OUATITW, GBU and DYS with *****? Though I suppose it's reasonable.

My current, funny state (many thanks to Dave Jenkins, my long-time-friend, my dad and Firecracker!)

I frequently give OUATITW more than necessary, since it's my favorite film. i often give it an 11/10 or so on. I rated these Five out of Four because they're a billion lightyears ahead of all other spaghetti westerns. They're so GREAT!

I understand it, I would probably do the same. I was just wondering, what words would fit those five stars... "must have"?

Yup. They're probably "must-own."
